First, your equation doesn’t represent what the posted said. So you’re literally jumping in and saying “Take 9-12 off the end of BY, and add it to the top of the year below, and do the same to that year’s 9-12”…yes…that is SY…and it’s not what the poster suggested. “I still think mlsnext stays “BY” but allows some number of boys to bioband that is based on sept-dec birthdate or GY and has nothing to do with size.” So maybe you’re not an idiot, maybe you’re just a liar. 🤷♀️ Or probably both since you don’t understand what the poster said. |

Those Europeans aren’t waiting to get recruited. They’re failing at a bottom tier pro career and pivot to education because they’re young enough to have a backup plan, and our collegiate athletic system is irreparably broken so they take advantage of it. |

So because their school system starts them at 6 for kindergarten they aren’t cheaters because they graduate high school at 19 but a kid graduating at 19 because they started kindergarten late makes them a cheater?You got some backwards liberal logic there. You can’t communicate with the BY crazies…they see the writing on the wall that GA and MLSN are going SY so their dream of living vicariously through their children may come to an end….it is really sad. |

I’m the OP with that idea and I can’t even follow the argument that this has turned into. All I’m saying is that it’s been well established that it will be next to impossible for mlsnext to stay strict BY with everyone else going SY. They could say they are staying BY and allow some exceptions based on birth month or GY. That is essentially the same type of system they have now with BY and some exceptions based on size/no clearly defined criteria/biobanding. They could also go SY, although I think that is less likely to happen 26/27 but could happen eventually. There is no way they push sept-dec (one third of kids) birthdays to ecnl by making them skip an age group to go from a SY team (which all u8-u12 leagues will be) to a BY team. There will be some type of exception. |

What's sad is how people invent BY crazies on here so they can attack them. I like the thread better when it's more constructive conversation where ideas are shared/debated along with new nuggets of news. |

I talked to a BY'er last night. He thinks the change is not happening becasue it did happen at tryouts.
Should be an interesting year. |

The change was officially adopted in late February 2025 - to go into effect in August 2026, which was right around 17 months. Apparently, every USCS and USYS club needs 17 full months to figure out how to move Q4s from BY teams to the team down (or leave them on their current team)? Having a 17 month lame duck period is too long. If the leagues make transitional rules in 25/26 that allow Q4s to play down next year (at the club's option) it would make things way more interesting. Let's hope.
