VYS Soccer - better or worse?

On the boys side, this is definitely not the case. i cannot speak to the girls side fully but they have a had a few recent state cup winners. Not to start that whole crap discussion again. They do a great job developing younger players and their younger boys teams are doing really well, much better than McLean and BRYC at younger ages. Their top teams compete against all other top boys teams in the area at a younger age. They definitely have A team players that could be A team players anwhere else in NOVA (as some become as they move to other clubs at older ages).

We are about to find out on the boys side. McLean Green plays against Vienna Red in the premier division of the U10 group at the Arlington Asist tournament coming up.

The fate of all Northern Virginia soccer clubs hangs in the balan- ... oh, hang on, Timmy has to tie his shoe.

I guess you forgot to post how ridiculous it is that anybody was suggesting that 10-year old kids are A, B, C, D, E, F, etc. players. And do you think it is more meaningful when they are 15? Gimme a break. Unless your kid is involved nobody should care about this nonsense any more than they would care about Madison v. Oakton or Langley vs. McLean. It's all pretty meaningless unless it involves your kid.

Nobody said there aren’t a lot of idiots who care about kids they don’t know playing sports at schools they could not or did not attend. I just think it is dumb. Pro and top college is different because the quality is often elite.

Some actual facts, VYS does not invest more or less resources with boys Vs girls.

VYS boys are in ODSL and NPL leagues not ECNL, very big difference. I would actually love to see some of the red teams in ECNL as they have proven to play at that top level.

As of last year U12 red boys was by far one of the best teams in the area with an undefeated season. Granted they did not play Arlington or Alexandria powerhouses as both play in ECNL and CCL but a team to watch in the coming years.

No disrespect to the club but if players want to play D1 or even D2 staying in VYS it’s not going to happen. Players need to be seen by the schools and staying in NPL it’s just not going to happen for a D1 school.

VYS is a solid starting club for players up to U12-U13, but after that the better players start migrating to the bigger clubs.

They got smoked by ALX 08 in Jeff Cup right before COVID hit and smoked by Arlington the March before in the ASIST tournament.
