Really? We did. I don't think anyone else is going to put it in for you. And if the grades improved, wouldn't that be "new material"?

I would use my page limit for something more valuable. I guess if you have nothing of value to add, it cannot hurt.

A question for people on this forum with past experience with appeal process and acceptance.

DC has GBRS of 9, around 128 Cognat test scores which was denied. Took WISC and scored 152 (with %99.9). Submitted the appeal last week and was wondering what are the chances? you can call me impatient!

Depends upon the subtest scores, but it sounds promising. Good luck with the short wait! (You'll know in about a month. )

Thanks, but which sub test scores? and what level is acceptable? I don't have the test with me right now but I remember the range was a mix of a couple 17, one 18 and the rest 19s. I don't know if this makes any sense, not having the test scores in front of me...

Who tested your DC? With a WISC like that I'm surprised the COGAT wasn't higher.

It is a license psychologist which school staff referred. I don't think the test he took in school was taken very seriously and he did mention he didn't finish parts of it since he was distracted. I don't know what to think other than his 4 hours testing for WISC was a very focused session! I am not sure about the appeal because of low GBRS though he has 2,2,2 & 3 for the breakdown!

you would think cogat would be higher. but cogat is not a good test for many spatial thinkers. DC has a 9 GBRS 3 years ago with 126 cogat. was accpeted 1st round because sent in a 149 WISC with original packet. DC is top in class. 152 has no worries, DC will get in and excel.

by the way, the reason the wisc took 4 hours is because DC hit the celing on many sections (hence the 19's). they keep going until the child can't answer further. so the timing and score make sense.

I'm a FCPS teacher. I taught IB (International Baccalaureate) for six years and currently teach AP at an elite high school. Recently, we were told our child made this "pool." Though I've taught AA for years, I didn't even know what the CogAt was, so she obviously didn't prepare. I have mixed feelings about AAP because it can go either very well or very poorly by the time students get to HS. Let's just say I have little sympathy for parents who put an exorbitant amount of pressure on their children because I can see what it can do. In HS, AP and IB are open-access, and I'm fine with that. As far as differentiation in the classroom, my daughter likes helping students, and frankly, I'm happy about that most of the time. So if she doesn't make it, I won't be heart-broken and she'll be just as, "Oh, well" about it and move on.

Will you elaborate on what you have seen?
