Childhood present spinoff: what did you want that your parents wouldn't buy you?

As an adult, I still resent my mom a little for nixing the following requests: (I'm mostly kidding about the resentment part.)

* Barbie Dream House - I got the townhouse instead, probably because of the cost. Ironically, as an adult, while I'd like to live in a big single-family house, I live in a townhouse.

* Barbie Camper - not sure what the reason was.

* Chemistry Set - my mom (rightly) suspected I'd blow up the house. I remember telling her that she'd be sorry when I didn't get famous for curing cancer.

What did you want as a child that you didn't get for Christmas or your birthday?

An Easy-Bake Oven. I did get a set of child-size baking pans that year, but I was very upset.

A pony. Can't say I blame them.

Fresh N' Fancy make up kit. Several years ago I found 2 letters to Santa in which I requested it. 2 years in a row I wanted it and didn't get it.

Looking back, can't say I really blame them. I don't want to give my daughter a make up kit either.

1. Baby Alive, (Soft and Sweet. She Can Drink, She Can Eat.) Mom said Santa would never bring this to our house because Santa knew that this doll leaked water on wood furniture and left water marks and so was not a good present.

2. A girl's bike with a banana-style seat and streamers that extend from the V-shaped handle bars like pom-poms.

3. A big realistic doll house filled with miniature furniture.

4. Lite Brite. My mom said Santa wouldn't bring this because Santa knew it was a dumb toy because you would immediately lose all the colored pegs in the shag carpet and then your mom would vacuum them up and break the vacuum hose. So Santa would never bring such a thing.
