Field hockey clubs feedback

One thing to consider at a showcase is how your player does against higher ranked teams. While your team may not win, your player may have played exceptionally well.

If you are in Alexandria/Arlington AVA Magic is great program on paper or if you are lucky enough to be placed on cliquey Purple squad. Purple gets committed coaching, player development, team bonding, tournaments, travel, and team parties. If you're on the B and C teams its rec. level babysitting at best. Because of this lopsided dynamic-lots of girls and parents crash out of this program and the sport. Shame. You're basically funding the Purple program. Check out The James' programs or Fairfax area.

Of this group, O'Connell had more players than any other high school. Clearly, that coach knows who to pay.

And, take what you will from this, 9 players on this list were from Hussel Club.

She 1000% pilfered all her players from other teams, mostly from the club that was Husel. And also funneled them to the Wolves. And she promotes the sh-- out of them, with great success, whether it's earned or not.

Yes the MAX list is all about promotion. It's a BS list which college coaches don't pay much attention to. There are girls on the national team that didn't make that list! And girls committed to UNC, Northwestern, Duke, UVA, etc. that were not on that list. NEXUS, Selection Camp, National Team, etc are more telling - that's when coaches actually get firsthand looks at the players. MAX just goes by expectation - who is "supposed" to be on their list

Her job is to get these kids noticed/recruited and she is doing just that.

I’m not sure how I feel about Max. Seeing some of the players on the list and where they rank and then seeing some not on the list at all is baffling to me as someone who has actually seen them play a significant number of times. Max may never have seen them play but is using achievements and recommendations. As someone else alluded, some coaches are better at promoting their players, which maybe inflates their rankings.

100%. MAX just goes by heresay. They have never seen these players play. There are 1,000 instances of a girl who didn't make the MAX list at all totally showing up a top 10 MAX list girl when they go head-to-head.

Any feedback on DMV Prime now that they are a few seasons in?

While screwing others over in the process. IYKYK.

Max is a joke. So many good players don't know about it or use it. It's total self-promotion by families and clubs. I know players who are or were on it. Some were truly amazing, best in the country. Some were best at promotion. But to say that coaches don't use it is not really accurate. Almost all who are on it and go to the summer showcase go D1 (whether they should or not). Max rankings are a game and make the already VERY flawed process worse. As much as NCAA/NFHCA/Etc. claims to care about wellness and mental health of players, the entire thing is exactly the opposite (with sh-- like this, coaches ghos\ting players, etc.) And I say this as someone who's kid was highly recruited.

The Top 100 or so from the rising junior or senior class (I forget exactly as it's been a few years) are "invited" to the Max 100 event. They do drills and scrimmage in front of coaches. It's announced prominently on the listed rankings whether they've "accepted" that invite or not and then they are hyped for about 2-3 mos. prior to the event. After they commit, it's listed there too. My kid's year, all the players at her position went D1 and almost all the coaches there were from D1 programs (and top programs).
