She has borderline personality disorder. There is no such thing as a wake up call for her. While I hope Andrew does succeed with full custody, he was a fool to have had a child with her to begin with. Her behavior was hidden to him.

He never seemed like the brightest bulb. But obviously, neither is Gary. Amber clearly has a "type." Physically large men with marginal intelligence.

How was her behavior hidden? We’ve known of her BPD diagnosis long before she was pregnant with their baby.

I’d be devastated. She’s already served hard time for the same thing. A prior isn’t good. Doing that in front of police while your boyfriend is holding your child isn’t good. The possibility she will go away again IS good.

She didn’t do it in front of police. He was recording her and she was pissed about it. She hit him in the neck with her shoe. The cops came and saw the mark. She was then arrested.

It’s way more than her violence tho. She drank in Florida. She’s on some heavy duty meds and is a recovering addict. She should not drink. She unilaterally decides to stop taking meds - to drink. Since these have to be titrated and she has significant problems unmedicated, that’s another problem. She couldnt get out of her room without cajoling on vacay. She had an anxiety attack at the grocery store. She screams at producers and on videos online (Janelle) and looks unhinged. She can go a long time without seeing Boo Boo and essentially blesses the kid’s step mother stepping in and completing raising her first child even though she claims her problems are in her past, she’s in the same area as the child, she knows cameras are rolling as she goes to California for months, etc.

This is so sad. A testament to our broken healthcare system that does absolutely nothing to help people who are struggling with mental illness. First Catelynn and now Amber. It's one thing to see them have ups and downs but now Amber will be incarcerated and separated from her kids. It will take her years to recover from this and permanently disrupt her baby son's social/emotional development. It's wrenching.

How do you know the healthcare system is to blame? It sounds like she stopped taking her meds. She is a legal adult and nobody can force her to take them.

She should have been taken to a psychiatric facility when her symptoms became alarming, and then not been stigmatized for it. Her boyfriend (any live-in partner) should have gone to a therapy appointment with her to be educated on what kind of support she needs, warning signs, etc. It's like how you would go to a doctor's appointment with your spouse to learn what you will need to do for them when they have metastatic cancer. There should be public health workers in communities who can help direct people to care and resources.
