ECNL moving to school year not calendar

After this change was announced I looked at our roster to realize that most kids were born January through May, and then we have two July/August kids and only one born in October after the new cutoff. Is this typical? My son is born in July and I am a bit concern what this shift will mean for him next year.

Everything posted is correct.

July is the new November. Also coincidently not on your current roster….

Top NL team, one Dec., then one Oct., then 2/3 of the teams are Jan to Mar, with the remaining April to June. No July to Sep.

Kids will also be allowed to play multiple GA games in a day. So a player can go down and play with their school grade and play with their BY team.

Starting 26/27 they will most likely extend the amount of players per team. So if it’s 2 players per game will goto 4 players per game.

Should hear about this after GA tryouts.

This sounds believable to me as our club sent out a mass club email asking for a response for every kids grade level and no mention of BY or Month of birth.

again this doesn't sound believable at all because playing 2 games in a day goes against everything these leagues allegedly stand for. Think of all the ways this could go wrong.

O, I agree with not doing 2 games, but it doesn't have to be all or nothing from therr comment. I was just pointing out the portion of their comment about grade as my daughters club had everyone respond to grade.

Anonymous wrote:So my MLSN2 kid is playing ECNL team in 13 days at tounament. How in the hell will they manage this with different age cut offs next season?

No one needs to see this....

They wont have to. MLSN2 will allow HS soccer and thus will go to SY. Only MLSN may stay BY.

Yeah that is not happening. MLSN1 and 2 will have the same age cutoff

This!

And, allowing HS has nothing to do with age cutoffs….MLSN gives zeros fricks about trapped players. That issue is a USYS issue.

Not the poster of comment.

But my daughters coach said GA is about to limit guest playing outside of your league. Meaning some kids 10-15 min per half is all they will be allowed to get. Sounds like there will be a minutes cap on players to 90 min a day.
Girls can either play with clubs aspire team or older Ga team in same day to get that PT.

He said ECNL doing something similar.
