ECNL moving to school year not calendar

So my MLSN2 kid is playing ECNL team in 13 days at tounament. How in the hell will they manage this with different age cut offs next season?

No one needs to see this....

Kids will also be allowed to play multiple GA games in a day. So a player can go down and play with their school grade and play with their BY team.

Starting 26/27 they will most likely extend the amount of players per team. So if it’s 2 players per game will goto 4 players per game.

Should hear about this after GA tryouts.

Holy cow, that would be a wild development. So after tryouts and team placement some Fall birthday kids could find out they will instead effectively be playing on the younger team this year?! That would be a more aggressive transition in GA than anything ECNL has said, after ECNL spearheaded the change. Q1-Q2 expecting to be bottom starters will lose their minds.

They wont have to. MLSN2 will allow HS soccer and thus will go to SY. Only MLSN may stay BY.

This would be limited to Sep/Q4 kids or would also include August bdays?

Allowing just gives them the option to move those kids down to play with school year, they don't have to. But I think giving kids/clubs that option, but more importantly putting a limit to it, seems like the most sensible compromise to the "reverse trapped player" phenomenon. It gives those kids the ability to play with their grade (to a certain degree) but also takes away any incentive to try and game the system with a team full of "hold backs." That's of course assuming this even happens. No one knows anything at this point.

If I'm understanding the OP, it sounds like they will have the 9/1 cutoff but allow a select amount of players to play with their grade, which would seem to include Aug. kids, and maybe even June, July, etc.

Yeah that is not happening. MLSN1 and 2 will have the same age cutoff

I'm going to need a source on that - especially the multiple games in a day. Goes against almost every standard we currently have.

ECNL is switching to SY and GA/MLSN want to stay BY for now and this is their plan. Would be two games per day for GA players. Just what I heard....
Also not sure on what the specifics are but sounds like guest players from outside clubs will be a thing of the past. ECNL/RL will not allow players to play GA. Again not 100% on specifics.

Conflicting information coming at us today, so will a trapped 8th grader next fall be able to play SY for fall then go back to BY team in spring? That's how ECNL currently deals with trapped kids.

No idea? The GA director/coach just mentioned what I posted above no idea about if this is only for trapped players or to what extent this will all play out.

This is not happening. At least as advertised. Multiple GA games a day will not be allowed. No way. I think your GA coach/director mishears or was mistold.

Yeah, 100% unless they decide to get into the weeds of saying X number of minutes per day spread over X number of games.
