The truth is changing the lines will not magically make all Q3/4 RL players ECNL level players. My daughter’s team 2011 NL scrimmages the 2010 RL and we always beat them. But it’s definitely a close game usually (2-0/3-1). I think the biggest challenge during next year’s tryout will be the Q3/4 NL/GA girl’s. |
Yes my daughter December ECNL 2010 player trains and scrimmages with the 2011 team from time to time. The technical and speed is similar and some of the 11s are faster and maybe even more technical. The difference is when physical and size comes in to play. She can easily move them off the ball. Speed of play difference you notice as well. If players have been able to hang on the top teams as Q3/4s it’s going to be easier to go down and play at the same level. Next year’s tryouts are really going to be crazy. |
U12-14 will see the widest swings. You have the normal shake up of puberty hitting and the age grouping change... |
For SY is there an agreement on what that means? (Sept 1-August 31) or is it )August 1-July 31) |
(Sept 1-August 31) |

So technically - fall birthday kids - Sept-December will now be the oldest in the age bracket? Right now being the youngest in the age bracket? I guess that is nice as right now most my daughters team is the grade above her. |

Nobody really knows the answers to these questions. It depends on how US Soccer sets up the age brackets in the present and the future. If anyone knows the answer, it would come from reading the past 900 pages of this thread. But surely nobody has time for that. |

We know USYS, US Club, and AYSO have announced Sep 1 for 26-27. Beyond that, no one knows. They could of course modify that. There has been a lot of complaining from August parents asking them to rethink Aug 1 or at least offer some exceptions for those kids to play with grade. Many on here want no exceptions. MLSN and GA haven't announced anything. Majority speculation is MLSN would stay BY for at least tier 1. Majority speculation is GA will follow to SY. |
GA going to add a clause that allows kids to play down with their school grade. Sounds like will start next year and will be limited amount per team. Kids will also be allowed to play multiple GA games in a day. So a player can go down and play with their school grade and play with their BY team.
Starting 26/27 they will most likely extend the amount of players per team. So if it’s 2 players per game will goto 4 players per game. Should hear about this after GA tryouts. |
I'm going to need a source on that - especially the multiple games in a day. Goes against almost every standard we currently have. |
I have to agree. There's almost no chance that GA allows players to participate in 2x games per day. The other things the PP mentioned sounds like what MLSN allows with bio banding. |
Awesome ideas |
ECNL is switching to SY and GA/MLSN want to stay BY for now and this is their plan. Would be two games per day for GA players. Just what I heard.... Also not sure on what the specifics are but sounds like guest players from outside clubs will be a thing of the past. ECNL/RL will not allow players to play GA. Again not 100% on specifics. |
Conflicting information coming at us today, so will a trapped 8th grader next fall be able to play SY for fall then go back to BY team in spring? That's how ECNL currently deals with trapped kids. |
