I have a huge amount of respect for Susan Collins now. She could have meekly issued a statement like other senators, but she actually got up in front of everyone and articulately explained her position and basing her position on the need to at least meet the preponderance of evidence standard.

I completely agree. Huge props to Sen. Collins for explaining her decision so articulately. The past few weeks have been a disgusting nightmare smear job.

Like she pretends not to see the liar Kavanaugh is? She is voting along the party line, how refreshing is that?

Her insistence on the preponderance of evidence standard is what is important. She rejected the idea that the mere presence of allegations is sufficient to reject someone.

That is overlooking corroborating evidence which she and the entire GOP ignored.

Like this?

"Christine Blasey Ford’s Attorneys Reveal Statement From Corroborating Witness" That's a headline from today. Read the story and you get a statement from a person that says she told him about it in 2016. That is NOT a corroborating witness to the alleged event.

I’m sure they’ll appreciate a country where a great woman took a brave stand for the presumption of innocence.

Mmmmhmm. Presumption of innocence with a sham investigation. We see you.

We see you, too.

Why are you happy about it? Is owning the libs worth tearing the country apart? If this were a democratic nominee you would've screamed bloody murder and you know it. That's why I am not casting another vote for GOP. The pure hatred of the "others," and forgetting the others are your family, your neighbors, your friends.

It's hearsay.

And it's also an example of someone the FBI probably decided not to interview because hearsay isn't evidence.

George W Bush made several calls to Collins to reassure her about voting for Kavanaugh. Republicans stick together, eh?

His wife, daughters and grandchildren should be ashamed. I hope the press tracks down his daughters to ask them how they feel about their father's blind support of partisan pitch-a-fit Kavanaugh.

She already testified. The supplemental FBI investigation was to see if they could find any witnesses to corroborate her account. They couldn't.

Go read her testimony. She shared everything she remembered--at least that is what she said.

Of course, she had changed the details two or three times since July, so who knows? She should be grateful the FBI didn't interview her. If she told them something different, she would have been subject to lying to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

A wise choice not to waste money talking to someone that has already put forth their story? If after all the time she, and her advisors, had before her appearance...if there was something left unsaid, some evidence not presented, then shame on her and her advisors.

....not necessary. They have her hours of testimony. Unless she planned to totally change her story, it wasn’t necessary.

Her “evidence” actually did more to exonerate Kavanaugh than support her story.
I can’t see why you folks don’t get that.

You are such a hypocrite. No one is more hateful than liberals "if you don't agree with me on everything you are an evil sexist/racist."

Absolutely. I am a true independent, and obviously they do not want my vote.
