CCL just added Herndon. A pretty good size club and with strong teams. Seems like a quality add. http://www.clubchampionsleague.com/2018/03/16/2018-herndon-youth-soccer-to-join-ccl/

They were better off in NCSL--especially their teams that will now be put in CCLII which is a huge joke and non-competitive.

statement says that their top teams will be ccl. ccl2 is the second teams. There is some good competition in ccl2, not all but there is.

very few. My kid played in CCL2. The same 6 teams. There was only 1 other team that was equal caliber. The rest of the time we watched them win 12-0. It was boring.

Then, they would go to a non-CCL tournament and experience that game in the opposite direction and be completely surprised that they weren't the superstars they thought they were.

All of the parents wanted more competition and would have preferred to be in NCSL vs CCL2. I have seen Herndon play a lot and I just think with Pro/Rel, they are much better off with the variety of teams and styles present in NCSL.

How long ago was that? at the beginning of ccl2 it was weak as not all of the clubs had teams in each age group. Now there are more teams even at the older age groups and competition is better.

interesting, that's 2 additions for next year. IMO they are strengthening to be the next best option in town for clubs after ECNL/DA. Clearly stronger than VPL.

Wouldn't be surprised if they eventually changed the format in order to keep the travel limited since the higher level competition appears to be more around here. They certainly have a good number of the better clubs from NoVA. Would also be cool to see something like a year long competition with a small break in the winter and full break in the summer now that they have more clubs in order for everyone to play each other. Next year it'll be 18 clubs in CCL so there could be some interesting things out of there.

CCL is both losing and gaining. Lost BRYC and MD United last year. Loudoun is moving towards DA (Boys) and ECNL (Girls) for top teams, Arlington to DA. Some talk that McLean is going to Boys ECNL. Adding Herndon and VA Rush. Decent additions but I would say they are losing more than they are gaining right now.

Why can't there just be one league? All these leagues are hurting soccer.

I agree. There should be one league with pro/rel. let the cream rise to the top.

Not just that. It would have teams of comparable quality across the spectrum play each other. It is a mathematical certainty that is more likely to happen with a bigger population of teams, and less likely with fewer teams.

Great, I'll great the league and every teams registration will be $1k per season with guaranteed 10% price increase. I won't be willing to adjust any schedules for any reason. If you don't like my attitude about it, go create your own league... oh that's exactly what happened...

Exactly the issue with NCSL. Not only that but the outdated way to report scores. Even ODSL uses an app that updates the score and standings right away.

Just got an email from McLean Youth Soccer that it has been accepted into the National ECNL league. MYS highlights that one key difference between ECNL and DA is the ability for the boys to play HS soccer. ECNL will be U12-U19 for the green teams. Others will continue with CCL and NCSL but all players will be eligible to guest-play on ECNL team...

Are any clubs in the area doing boys ECNL? who will they play against?

Thoughts?

I assume they're adding clubs for next year.

They better. All I see are two teams in MD and one team (BRYC) in VA and now McLean. No one is going to drive to the real NE every weekend. Will be interesting to see who follows suit
