GA application window just opened last week. |
They are definitely not all friends but since FVU has never beaten VDA this really isn't a rivalry even with the players who switched. Everyone knew VDA would win. Agree that parents acted well but again no expectation that FVU would win. The real story is that VDA can't make champions league and FVU might not make a showcase. |
What clubs are likely applying? Anyone other than Arlington? |
ARL will be last in area |
I thought earlier in this thread it was determined they brought 3 NL players due to a bunch of the RL players being unavailable as they were attending Homecoming. Are 3 players considered stacking a team? |
Yes it is. |
NP. I wouldn't use the term "stacked" because I don't think there was ill-intent given the various factors (several missing players, other 2011/2012 teams were playing in WAGS and elsewhere, and the RL team playing in the top bracket) but it most likely affected the game. That said, I don't think it is fair to say that SYC lost to Arl RL as some measure of SYC's talent level. |
If this is the case, then we really need to stop comparing GA to ECNL. |
You should definitely stop comparing GA to ECNL in NOVA. |
There is absolutely no comparing of the two. It’s a kin to Varsity vs JV. |
Can I ask a silly question? What difference does it make and who really cares? Both leagues can facilitate a kid's goal of playing college soccer on any level. Neither league hamstrings a kid from their goal(s), whatever those are. So, at the end of the day, does it really matter? I guess if we're talking about fodder for adults to argue about, then yeah...I guess it matters, but what difference does it really make? |
It doesn't. Stop feeding the 3-4 trolls on this site and they will go away. They were gone this weekend and this thread was civil. Now that they are back ignore them. |
...and if anyone is wondering, I'm the parent of an ECNL daughter and I STILL don't think it matters. In my experience, the kids don't really care and if it matters to an adult, well, that says more about the adult I guess. But I guess that's no fun on anonymous message board. In my years watching my kid, I've seen ECNL teams beat GA teams, GA teams beat ECNL teams and everything in between. I've seen ECNL kids commit to all the places, GA kids commit to all the places and kids from neither make the same commitments. I do know this...the smiles, friendships and memories the kids are making are just as valuable regardless of the badge on their shirt. Just some perspective from an ECNL dad whose daughter is on the cusp of finishing her club career and yes, will be playing collegiately. Enjoy the journey before it is over before you know it. I assure you, it goes by just as fast regardless of what league your daughter is playing in. |
Regardless how it makes you feel, it's a valid observation. Both leagues offer visibility but if a GA/National team loses to a regional squad, tossing in excuses of stacking the roster with NL level talent doesn't make a lot of sense, unless the reality is tha GA can provide exposure but what's the selling point? You could do the same with less travel in RL. |
on the whole, the level of exposure between GA and RL is not close and anyone who says otherwise is an ECNL homer. say what you want about ecnl and ga, whatever...but their is no comp, on the whole, between GA and RL from an exposure perspective |
