2029 Girls

My daughter does college prep in the summer and doesn't love waking up at 5:30a to go but does like the fact it keeps her workout schedule disciplined. A lot of players in the area do it, there's a competitive peer element to it which motivates my daughter to keep her fitness up in the offseason. Very good program.

HB won't guarantee acceptance anywhere but it will deliver results if the player is serious about her training. My daughter's D1 coach told me directly she wished every city had a College Prep course like the one run by HB in the summer. She said the players who do it are noticeably stronger and in better game-ready shape when they return to campus compared to those who don't. The DMV's best D1 athletes aren't there at 6am weekdays for the fun of it.

Good comedy for a Tuesday

Nothing funny about seeing local players from Northwestern, Clemson, Yale, Penn, Harvard, UVA, Maryland, and Michigan lifting at 6am before heading off to their summer internships.

Cool of you to demean the hard work these young ladies put into their sport.

You are just running to HB fatigue for some. Don't take it personally.

Who said I did? Just trying to give some perspective to the sincere person who is trying to defend HB and the college athletes from "Cool Story Bro-guy". He/She can take it or leave it. But thanks for the note.

Take shots at things you don’t know anything about you’ll get corrected.

Well then, feel free to correct, and explain why you don't believe the PP who is impressed with the attendance at this program.

Also, you may need a drink or a brisk walk or something.

It absolutely would be worth it, especially as your daughter sounds like she might just want to improve and enjoy the game for what it is.
Capital largely has experienced coaches and that and the intrateam competition at practice should allow that development.
4 summer tournaments, 2 out of the area in New Jersey.

And has been mentioned, not an overbearing number of practices and the equal playing time insures she'll be able to get plenty of game time experience as well against good teams. Save the tryout dates, and maybe get on their radar with Healthy Baller.

The point is that this parent suggested getting on HB's radar for CLC. That is a misconception that they make $$ off of. They give no preference. Smart that they draw from diverse markets. Maybe you can get good training there but you can anywhere so long as you have strong players who work hard. Otherwise what HB offers is not substantively impressive.

Never said anything about money, was replying directly to a parent regarding an inquiry they made about trying out for Capital. From a family who Capital might not have an idea who they are beforehand. Didn't say anything about the comparative level of training, either. You seem really invested here.

We did HB when my daughter was in 7th and 8th grade so she could meet the folks and get on Capitals radar. Once she made Capital, we dropped in favor of something closer to our house. What HB does is not unique. If we lived nearby in Alexandria we probably would have stayed there. You have to play the game unfortunately.

What are options besides HB?
