Funny how this thread has 92 pages, but nothing on page 92.
Cute, huh? |
Ok, so now we have 92.

Why doesn't this happen in Germany where kids can legally have a beer at 16 without their parent and 13 with their parent? We've hosted numerous German APs and NONE of them have been interested in getting drunk and are shocked to learn that Americans drive with even a drop of alcohol in their bodies. The problem IS alcohol prevention and the solution is drinking responsibly because drinking WI'LL happen and kids are given no guidance and parents are allowing these children with no guidiance to drink in their homes. It is all one big circle jerk. |
Drunk driving happens in Europe among young people. Most young people though don't have access to cars, etc.: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A35079-2004Dec29.html |
Um, having a few exchange students (who are usually the goodie good students) does not account for all of Germany. Read up a little more. Frightening.... http://www.thelocal.de/20140407/half-of-young-germans-binge-drink-regularly |
You don't know much about Germany and driving. They are not rule breakers. Drunk driving is extremely uncommon. As a matter of fact, I hire Germans because of their meticulous rule following and the fact that every one I have hired has had her own car, thus lots of driving experience. |
Drunk driving in Europe is a problem also. http://www.epha.org/IMG/pdf/Drinking_and_Drg_in_Euro.pdf |
OMG! I hired German aupairs because they were the best drivers. It is much harder to get a license in Germany. But those girls could party... and they should they are young. OMG! The way they dress... one aupair told me her mom said, you sneak out the back when you dress to go out, no woman needs another woman dressing like that in her house. They were sweet though and tough, but unfortunately all the bar flies can spot a German aupair a mile away. We paid for cabs, because drinking responsibly was not an option... and I did not want her drinking and driving.

Odd. You are a mom and you know the bar flies at the local bars and they tell you this? Were you a teen mom? Or are you single hitting up the bar scene? I'm 40 and couldn't name a single bar fly and I live in Arlington, a walk to many bars. My knowing the characters in the local bars were over about 13 years ago. |
Odd. Do you have daughters? You don't talk to them about how to be safe when they go out, go to parties, go to bars. You don't talk about... never drink and drive, keep an eye on your cup (or a hand over), never walk to your car alone, never go home with somebody that you are not dating. Guess what men are sometimes scum.. and when they see an aupair, they see an end date, no dramatic break up just free hook-up until their visa runs out. I am 50 and I couldn't imagine not talking to a young woman in a new country about safety in dating in the USA... and yes, I talk to my aupairs. Let me guess they are just hired help to you... nice, sounds very Arlington of you. |
| Teacher here. I tell your kids for you because I know for a fact that they never learn if from their parents. |
So how many teenagers live in your house?? *Let's guess!* I will say that you have a 12 year old and that's what you have to go on. |

Thinking of Ellis and his family as well as the Murk and Li families today. |
