From what I’ve read is that young black guys like to rent the e-bikes because they are new and cool, and of course easier to ride. Apparently, they go to different bike stations until everyone in the group has been able to rent an e-bike. |
So much hand waving and distraction here. Boys force pregnant PA to redock a bike she had already rented, then take the bike out from under her. “But no - look over here! She SNATCHED THE BOYS PHONE! She’s a terrible psycho! WHO DOES THAT?? Unhinged, I say!!” I mean c’mon people. |
On your points 1) its not the dispute over the citibike, it's the posting of the video. Maybe they did hav an honest disagreement. But why post the video? That was malicious. 2) she only looks weak, meek, and let's people know it's safe to attack women and label them Karens |
Then this supports the scenario that they forced her to redock the bike. Goods were scarce. She was about to take the last one. Why not force her to put it back so he could have it? |
If this is true, even more important that the guy GIVE THE PREGNANT LADY THE BIKE. Brings me back to taking metro during my pre-COVID pregnancies, both of which were third trimester in DC summer heat. First one I just stood and stewed. Second one I was almost yanking people out of the seats by the doors when they were clearly NOT elderly or disabled. |
Part of this is how common and accepted it is to refer to people, but especially women, as "entitled." Entitled means that you believe yourself to be inherently deserving of special treatment or privilege. It's not asking for basic rights like refusing to allow on someone else's hands on your body without consent or asking that restaurant staff bring you the food you actually ordered. Every request does not demonstrate entitlement. |
Oh, how sweet. A group of little boys being great friends. |
That's 20th Century thinking. You have to use the progressive-stack to determine who gets priority these days. These guys did nothing wrong. |
+1. But it's the same approach CVS and the big box stores use. I saw it in action at my local Safeway. There's no point risking violence or your reputation over a bike or a six-pack of soda. |
No. Because it was much, much more complicated than that and I realized I was unfairly at risk. Not bodily, but reputationally. Employment wise. Internet wise. It was indeed a stupid thing - a place in line at Walgreens. And then it dawned on me that holy crap, this could end up very, very bad for no reason. Now, I think about a person in the old South doing nothing wrong, and accidentally running afoul of local racists and how badly that could end for a person of color, and I realize "going viral" is nothing compared to the consequences those people faced. Nevertheless, to go from a random anonymous nobody to a viral Amy Cooper because you were waiting to pay for tampax in line at Walgreens - it's disorienting and frightening. Kind of like when someone almost causes an accident in traffic. You react from a place of fear and being threatened and thinking about how that could have ended up really, really bad. |
I agree that the words "privilege," "entitlement" and "Karen" have been weaponized to justify things like taking a bike out from under a pregnant nurse. Words are important. This is why we need non-racist words for this behavior. |
If she's actually making that claim, she's opening herself up to a lawsuit from him, as well. |
When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. |
As much as I can’t stand that waste of space, I don’t think she’s saying that he necessarily faked anything. She definitely said the receipts weren’t conclusive and don’t prove anything. Which implies that she thinks he’s an idiot. Which is even funnier, coming from her. |
I think she's implying that but she has enough sense not to libel an actual lawyer. All her language around "he's hired to protect his client" implies that he's shady. |
