An Egyptian official and a Western diplomat said the draft Hamas accepted had only minor changes in wording from a version the U.S. had earlier pushed for with Israeli approval. The changes were made in consultation with CIA chief William Burns, who embraced the draft before sending it to the Palestinian group, the diplomat and official said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the internal deliberations.

Changes were not minor. Yes, the CIA did agree with the draft. Egypt and US were pushing a deal Israel did not agree to at all. It's a deceptive mediation tactic and it ended up not working for that reason.

Khan is informed that any attempt by the ICC to hold Netanyahu and his colleagues to account for their actions in Gaza will be interpreted “not only as a threat to Israel’s sovereignty but to the sovereignty of the United States.”

“Target Israel and we will target you,” the senators tell Khan, adding that they will “sanction your employees and associates, and bar you and your families from the United States.”

Why is the US is involved with this? How much time and resources are we wasting for these Israeli ingrates? I am sure the CIA has much better use of their time.

The US and Israel are not part of the ICC. The US has always sided with the criminals.

Because Israel is an ally. We benefit from a stable, non-terror riddled Middle East.

They have economic and electoral gold by way of oil. They have the stick which is military deterrence . The US and Israel have absolutely no desire for a broader ME war and they can use just that mere threat to their advantage. It would be impossible to handle the entire region at once particularly for Israel.

Israel is lucky they have level headed elder leaders for colleagues for now because I suspect the younger generation will be far more ruthless when they come about. Qatars leader is a millennial born in 1980 and he’s the only pro Hamas leader in the Arab world that’s cool with the US , Israel, and Hamas and everyone else as well. That should really worry Israel that Qatar is able to have this Western friendly image and even win a World Cup bid despite hosting Hamas terrorists . What happens when Mahmoud Abbas and King Abdallah of Jordan dies?

The young ME generation lived through war in their region their entire lives and they strongly resents Israel and believes all the wars and terrorism there were somehow related to the Us believing it’s protecting Israel’s interests

No diplomatic relations with Saudi will fix everything. This Palestinians stuff is overblown leftists stuff.

This denial and line in the sand about Saudi Arabia is really interesting to me. Why are the pro Israelis in denial that the occupation is why Palestinians are upset and did 10/7?

They don’t care about Saudi and Israel’s bosom buddy closeted relationship .

Hamas didn’t have meltdowns when they learned Saudi and Israeli were deciding to go public with their affair. That was already well known . Freaking Egypt was flooding tunnels with gas and killing Hamas for years. They know Arabs and Israelis are friends and that’s why they aligned with Iran to stick the middle finger to the Saudis . The Saudi thing was no surprise blow at all and it’s really overblown by pro Israelis that like to pretend Hamas did 10/7 because of Saudi.

They didn’t. Right now, Israel is using Saudi intelligence to guide their leads. Saudis collected information last
Month that says Sinwar escaped from Rafah to Egypt months ago back in late November /early December possibly with some hostages in tow through a tunnel. That’s why IDF is now obsessed with Rafah.

They want to find this purported tunnel

Israel doesn’t know who to trust in the region but Egypt warned them before 10/7 repeatedly that something may happen in the fall because they probably saw lots of tunnel activity . I think Bibi presumed a national security scare/Hamas attack would stop his unpopularity so he let things happen not knowing it would be that severe

It was stable and non terror ridden before Israel existed.

The Middle East wasn’t the centrepiece of the two world wars that Japan, Germany, Russia, US .

It became war ridden when Jews left Europe to Middle East

What are you basing your assertion on that the changes were not minor? I'm asking sincerely here.

Permanent ceasefire v. temporary ceasefire, 33 bodies possible instead of at least some live hostages.

If that comment is biased to you but the PP’s comment that America needs Israel to make sure they aren’t terror ridden and war ridden isn’t , check your biases.

I am only inversing what the PP said. The Middle East is not some trigger happy, war happy place that needs Israel to make sure the area is calm . That’s a racist pro Israeli statement .

It's only racist if you think Israel is made out of white colonizers, which makes you the racist and a historically ignorant person. There are other stable countries we should and do help in the Middle East as well btw.

It is made up of white colonizers. Per their own founding fathers, Europe in the Middle East is what they proudly call it. For a very long time, they looked down on Morrocan and Iraqi Jews and Jews from the East as well and mockingly looked down on them as non white or Arab.

Has Israel ever had a non European Prime Minister? Despite being the minority , they lead the country always . People in Israel know it’s a white colonizer country including Mizrahi Jews

Israel also sterilized Ethiopian Jewish women without their knowledge and never cared about an Ethiopian man who was held hostage by Hamas since 2013. Wonder why they never asked for him back in 10 years despite his family’s cries but want the current hostages ?

I wonder why the Bedouin Muslims in Israel complained they didn’t have a bomb shelter or alarm in their neighborhood until after 10/7. Israel quietly built some for them a few months ago . I guess that’s their reward for helping save many Israelis on 10/7 by speaking to Hamas in Arabic and telling them the people around were their families so do not take them hostage or kill

Ah yes, the Jewish problem. So glad that DCUM is finally addressing it. But what is DCUM's solution? Perhaps even a final solution?
