AOC is complicit in this decision, frankly. She has carried the water for the patriarchy one too many times to be credible. We need to squad-out and rebuild the party with members who actually care about advancing equality for women, as opposed to moving cults of personality who cannot "lower themselves" to vote for Elizabeth Warren.

I understand and feel for the women who feel utterly betrayed by this SCOTUS ruling. But moving to what we can do to protect the most vulnerable. I think that pro women's rights groups need to start to organize medical drives. Because the two drugs that are used for medical abortions are controlled by the FDA and not the states, states cannot ban the drugs. They are enacting several regulations regarding how these drugs are prescribed in order to control them. Indiana says that they cannot be prescribed after 10 weeks and Texas has ruled that they cannot be prescribed after 7 weeks. Many states have barred prescribing these drugs via telemedicine appointments, requiring that the prescribing doctor see the patient in-person. Many states have restricted it so that NPs and PAs cannot prescribe them and that only an MD can prescribe them.

The ones most affected are poor women who cannot travel and who cannot take off from work to get medical appointments. So, organizations need to get mobile clinics with MDs to go and schedule appointments and then advertise that they will be in certain neighborhoods and that patients who need to see the doctor can come out to the medical van or bus during their lunch or coffee breaks, see the doctor and get the prescriptions written for them.

I'd most definitely donate to an organization that could make such a service available and I bet many others would as well. If the government was able to organize such mobile clinics for the Pfizer vaccine and visit the neighborhoods and areas where the most number of people could not get out to get vaccines and turn those numbers around, then pro reproductive rights groups should be able to mobilize similar types of efforts to protect the most vulnerable women. It may not be comprehensive, but it's a start until appropriate legislation can be made.

Does Texas or Indiana have an actual legal requirement that they only be prescribed after a pregnancy is confirmed?

Not accepting that. The right showed us exactly how this is done...and it begins and ends with the justices on the court. A long directed effort to get some justices with some respect on scotus is how to do it.

A pp in the Roe technicalities thread has an ER doctor sibling and their hospitals legal guidance is that they can do nothing to treat ectopic pregnancies starting with Ohio’s heartbeat law (so named because they hope it snuffs out many women’s heartbeats). The deaths are going to begin shortly. Those poor, poor Democratic women. I can’t really spare a concern for the Republican women who voted for this; the leopards have come for their faces.

I wonder if blue state doctors will revise the speed with which they perform tubals and hysterectomies. For the women who no longer want to have children at all, I would pay into a fund to guarantee that they don’t have to scramble to find meds from somewhere else in the country. What a mess.

But my point stands. The conservative have ground the gears of a functioning society to a halt, and they have the courts and apparently the constitution girding any meaningful change. Gun restrictions are impossible now, even with this stupid senate bill that is toothless. And abortion has gone to the states and it’s all fked. It won’t change until whack job conservatives are replaced by a more tempered and progressive young generation who by and large are pro abortion. That’s it. So I’ll see you in 40 years or whatever. SCOTUS does not need to be packed. It needs to be cleaned and corrected.

We now know that Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett LIED under oath. They willfully and deliberately deceived and misled Congress during their SCOTUS nomination hearings. Thus their confirmations were ILLEGITIMATE.

We have 5 ILLEGITIMATE people taking seats on the SCOTUS bench.

We need to hear from Roberts what he intends to do about it.

We need the Senate to begin impeachment hearings. Clinton was impeached for far less.

We need their perjury cases to be referred to DoJ for prosecution.

These 5 people lack the integrity to sit on the SCOTUS bench and must be removed.

They all lied. They all committed perjury. They all gained their seats under false pretenses. They are ILLEGITIMATE and must be removed.
