Her biggest concern is that a lot of the drugs they need to use to keep pregnant women alive are NOT tested in pregnancy and they have no idea what the effects will be on the baby. Those drugs are a much much much bigger risk to the u born child than a very safe and effective vaccine. Vaccines aren’t like drugs - you get one or two tiny doses and all traces are gone within two weeks, usually much much less. IV drugs administered by the bagful for days and weeks and months…yikes. The risks are definitely not equal.

This is a great point. Has the regeneron drug been tested or the other antibody drug that is on the market (forget the name of the manufacturer?). My guess is that they were not.

They have an EUA just like the vaccines. But the vaccines have been used in literally hundreds of millions of people and so many pregnant women. While the drugs have not. I would absolutely be more comfortable getting the vaccine.

It is the only way a vaccine can currently be transmitted to a child under 12yrs. As someone previously mentioned all decisions are about weighing risk.

If there's any complication post-vax, is it directly caused by the vax? vs.
If you or the baby contract COVID, could it be prevented or less severe/fatal w/the vax?

Then compare the %. You have to decide what's best for you and your baby.

Odd how we don't say that to people about the decision to bring their baby home by car with or without a car seat.

Not sure if I'd equate the two. Car seats weren't invented a year ago and there's no known downside to putting an infant in a car seat. But you might think twice about putting your kid in car seat that wasn't approved by the proper bodies (like whatever the car seat equivalent of the FDA is).

You're wrong about that.

Meanwhile, ACOG and the Maternal Fetal Medicine doctors are telling pregnant people to get vaccinated.

In your case, we’ll, it would be your fault so you’ll need even more help dealing with feelings of guilt and remorse.

OP here my first born had to have antibiotics and was in NICU a few days because of an infection we both had. I blame myself and I’m still dealing with those feeling of remorse and what I could have done differently at the end of the pregnancy. As you’ll see many studies have since come out that neonatal antibiotics use have all kind of issues including diminished growth and severe allergies which my son is dealing with still.

I’d deal with more feeling of remorse if I got the vaccine and my second was born with irreversible heart defect or kidney defect or possibly something else. Hence me trying to figure out an alternative path that protects him.

dont be worried. I was so scared during pregnancy to do anything. I was a wreck. But these shots are really really safe and they are now very much recommended during pregnancy. Do not worry and get the shot. Youll be ok.

No other medical conditions. They are delivering one of the babies today at 31 weeks. Mom is not expected to survive. My niece is also five months pregnant with her second. And of course, fully vaccinated.

Don’t be stupid. Get the fing vaccine.

The lies being told on this site are fing amazing.

N95 masks (the good ones) are available on Amazon for when I am at the doctor’s office, although they aren’t super easy to breathe in.

Good luck with your decision either way. It isn’t easy!

If you get sick, please seek early treatment. Many hospitals are providing palliative care only (!)

And thus murdering people.

Are you pregnant? I have a hard time believing an OB would put a pregnant patient on hydroxychloroquine as a preemptive move against COVID. IIRC, there are studies suggesting HCQ can be harmful to the fetus.

Drug with a 40 year history of safely - BADDDD. Vaccine with real-time testing on pregnant women - GOOOODDD.

They have NO idea what the risks are. And won’t for a while. There is NO F’ING way I’d vaccinate while pregnant. And to the idiot here who claimed that pregnant woman can be given an MMR. Um. No. My doc waited until my 6 week postpartum visit

That baby is growing up without a mom now. *The article doesn't say if mom was vaccinated or not, but implies she was not.

Her brother confirmed in another article she was not vaccinated. Her husband was, so it’s not like they were rabid antivaxxers, she was like OP and opted to not get the vaccine because she was pregnant. She also had a high exposure job as a hotel manager.

Listen OP, I say this gently, inaction (doing nothing) is not a zero-risk game. Sorry, Covid happened, it is out there. You live with that risk at this very moment. Choose wisely.

Same papers. All the time.

That PP was being a jerk, OP. And I’m sorry your first had a rough start. So here is the thing. There is no evidence that the vaccine can cause any sort of defect or problem for babies (the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology just came out with a strong pro-vaccine statement for pregnant people) and there is a great deal of evidence that Covid can harm your baby. So in good faith, with true care, it seems like your risk perception is backward. For what it is worth if you can keep yourself cloistered for the next few months I think there is a good chance Delta will have burned through by December and your risk during delivery may be lower than it is now. May be.

This. At times like this I like to take a mathematical approach. Research actual risk of various things and compare. Risk currently of Covid to you and the baby is super high. Risk of heart defect caused by vaccine is….maybe zero? Not even sure where you go that from.

But do some research and see if that helps?

OP here for those still debating this (and I know the numbers of vaccinated pregnant women are still low).

I decided to get the first dose of Pfizer at 37 weeks exactly, had a c section at 39 weeks, and the second day at home I got my second dose of Pfizer. I am nursing. We’ve been home for over a week and testing negative. We wore masks religiously in the room, sometimes even when staff wasn’t in the room, and we left after only 2 nights which sucked but I wanted less exposure. I did ask my nurses if they’re caring for covid positive patients and while they couldn’t say they did end up saying no. On my discharge day my OB doctor warned me positive women were coming to LD next day so we opted to leave early.

Goodluck to all the pregnant moms out there and with the new variant. I was locked in my house with my family for the 9 months since I delayed the vaccine so if you end up not vaccinating, take it seriously, do nothing that could expose you.
