Speaking at Tuesday’s White House press briefing, Granholm noted that one of the pipeline’s major lines had resumed normal operations under manual control.

“I have had several conversations with the CEO of Colonial, who has indicated that by close of business tomorrow, Colonial will be in a position to make the full restart decision, but even after that decision is made, it will take a few days to ramp up operations,” Granholm said.

Yep, turn on the taps or else risk being nationalized.

So basically, a competent administration handled a crisis competently.

+100! They should be nationalized anyway. This is too important not to be controlled by the government. We need a central authority who can ensure that fuel is delivered to people who need it, equitably and fairly. Leaving it up to the private sector is what got us this mess in the first place.

I’m not giving any props until I see govt control over gas distribution. Let’s not get all congratulatory just yet.

What?

Why would you want government control of private sector commodities in peacetime?

What got us into this mess was DarkSide hacking the system.

Did Colonial have to have to pay the ransom?

The government controls other vital commodities all the time.

Oh G-d. This was a theater piece orchestrated by the gov to nationalize the fuel sector.

No, not really. They can invoke the defense production act, or the congress can pass laws etc. But for open commodities, no, the private sector is the way it works in the US.

Gretchen Whitmer orders Canadian company to shut down oil pipeline despite widespread fuel shortages

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/gretchen-whitmer-orders-canadian-company-to-shut-down-oil-pipeline-despite-widespread-fuel-shortages/ar-BB1gFohn?ocid=uxbndlbing

“Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered a Canadian energy company to shut down an oil pipeline long targeted by activists despite fuel shortages brought on by the cyberattack on the nation’s largest pipeline.

“These oil pipelines in the Straits of Mackinac are a ticking timebomb, and their continued presence violates the public trust and poses a grave threat to Michigan’s environment and economy,” Whitmer’s office said in a statement about the pipeline.

Whitmer gave Enbridge, the company that runs the pipeline known as Line 5, until Wednesday to shut down amid fears that it could spill any day. Enbridge, however, said the pipeline has been in operation for 67 years and has not once had a leak, though a different Enbridge pipeline did spill nearly a million gallons of oil into the Kalamazoo River in 2010.“

Same thing as toilet paper a year ago. It's not "scary" and no, DCUM, you can't blame Trump for it.

Why is this thread even in the political forum?

I can and will blame the gop for this. I believe they are involved with Russia in perpetrating this now as their are preparing their nominees for elections. They are intentionally trying to wreck the economy to hurt Biden like Covid did Trump.

Totally different scenarios. I’m glad covid happened because it hurt trump. But this isn’t the same.

Millions of people died but it was worth it, right?

That’s exactly why people say Covid was a fake virus, because liberals would do anything and harm anyone to hurt Trump. Even kill millions of innocent people.

Biden just signed a cybersecurity of infrastructure EO. So, it’s starting.

Encouraging stronger cybersecurity is not nationalizing gas lines.
