APS - how do you feel about no distancing in the fall?

They have had the money to do this for a while and have been refusing because it was too burdensome. I am glad they decided to start doing it.

There is no way to get everyone in the building with distancing. That has been made abundantly clear this year.

I am sending my child to school. I realize there will not be distancing and that they will eat lunch next to other students.

I think community spread will be low enough that the risks are small. Risks to young children are already small, and then add in all the vaccines and it will be fine.

I have been cautious all year. I am not willing to wait for my 7 year old to be vaccinated to send her back. I will accept the risk that brings now that all the adults in our lives ARE vaccinated.

I would maybe feel differently if I was going to have a 6th grader next year who was able to get vaccinated first. Maybe.

I do wish APS would have better reporting (ugh, looks like you can't view May data yet... again!) and testing.

There's an outbreak in Carlin Springs Elem.

Say what?? What sports/schools? Kid practices/plays everyday and there's been no mention of testing.

Washington Liberty all spring sports, coaches told yesterday. Meetings with teams to explain, could start as early as Thursday.

wow! Is there an announcement?

Oof...How many kids? The report only shows March and April cases (we had this issue last month when they had a filter on it for March).

Only if the students/parents opt in and frankly, the way my DD’s coach described it, it’s not worth it.

Interesting. Can you elaborate a bit on the process?

I've yet to hear anything from our kid's team. My kid is vaccinated so I would probably not opt in anyway.

Daily testing, if negative don’t have to wear mask. If there is a positive on the team the testers don’t have to quarantine. If kid in class tests positive testers won’t have to quarantine.
