APS - why are teachers so terrified?

What on earth do you want by overworked? They get paid hourly. I've never heard of a staff member working a 50+ hour week and even then they'd get overtime. The job responsibilities are things like monitoring lunch and recess or escorting a class from one part of the school to another. Perhaps taking temperatures with a forehead thermometer. It isn't like they're working hauling coal out of a mine and dropping over from exhaustion and frostbite. Fine if you want to question their pay or benefits, but let's be real. Many other jobs are far more difficult and strenuous.

If the teacher doesn’t think the vaccine works then why did she take one based on her status as a teacher?

I feel like despite all of the evidence that it would save the most lives to vaccinate in order of age/health status rather than how we have done it this is the path we went down. Unfortunately having to go back in the classroom is the other side of the coin.

Fine. The ones being put in the most questionable positions are the lowest paid. If those folks have the option to quit, I wouldn’t blame them one bit!

It's belt and suspenders. The vaccine works, but doctors want people to keep up safe behaviors until all are vaccinated and we reach herd immunity. They are using a bit of fear to keep that second layer of protection in place. Unfortunately people are misunderstanding this messaging to question the vaccine and their own safety.

For the record I am more scared of catching COVID from a coworker aka a ADULT than a student. I will be okay if I don't have to deal with an adult all day, kids are better at social distancing and wearing mask than some of the teachers at this school.

But have you been vaccinated? If so, you do not need to worry about catching covid from a coworker because it's incredibly unlikely that would happen.

I strongly support teachers, and reached out to my kid’s homeroom teacher just yesterday to offer targeted support. But let’s not pretend that those attacks are a one way street. I have seen insults lodged at parents, by teachers, in social media and anonymously as well. Both groups doing the attacking are in the minority, and both should be called out.

But the truth is that the vaccines are about 90% effective at preventing transmission from a vaccinated person to an unvaccinated person, so that's really, really good!
