S/O: If your kid is truly gifted, what could they do at a young age that made you suspect it?

My DD is pretty bright, even by DCUM standards, I think. She could name shapes like oval and cube before 18 months. Could name about 10 colors by 20 months. Could rote count to 20 and count objects up to 10 by age 3. By 2.5 she used terms like half and whole. She started naming letters by 18 months and could identify all uppercase letters by 22 months. She had well over 100 words by 20 months, and her words were very clear. By 3 she produced the “r” sound quite easily and spoke like a little adult.

I didn’t think my DS is gifted. He started reading very early but he is very quiet. Then his K teacher said he is really bright. I thought she was just being nice. But now his current teacher recommended he be tested (next year) for an ILP. I still don’t think he seems gifted. When I think of gifted kids, I think of “reciting 200 train toys from memory“ and naming shapes at 9 months.

That's very average by DCUM standards.
