But there are people who want her job and know she's wounded, so drip drip drip will continue until she's finally off the air.

She's also old, she can't even dance anymore -- 62 is too old to host these shows catering to SAHMs and millennial guests. Carson quit at 66, Leno quit at 60, Letterman 66, Ferguson 52, John Stewart 52, Craig Kilborn 42.

Letterman hosted at least 5 years too long. Even he regrets holding on so long because he started sounding like a bitter old "get off my lawn" man.

So glad to read this. He was insufferable and depressing for sooooo long.

Leno didn’t quit at 60–he was replaced. No way would he have quit the Tonight Show.

Um, no? He walked away with no. 1 ratings. He has high self-awareness, isn't THAT greedy, and knew he was getting too old.

All the comments under this "apology" are negative. She's really out of touch. How long until another bombshell comes out and finally yanks her off the air for good?

If you watch her show I'd say 90% is humiliating people (audience, guests and crew) and 10% is half-*** interviewing. Give her the sack, she's a nasty mentally ill egomaniac bully.

Maybe GenXers and Boomers just have a more cynical sense of humor.

Ellen is funny. People have loved watching her show and being on her show.

You’re wrong. He said it to Steve Kroft on 60 Minutes:
It’s not my decision,” Leno tells Kroft. “I think I probably would have stayed if we didn’t have an extremely qualified, young guy ready to jump in.”

LOL—You know nothing.

If Leno wanted to host at 60+ he easily could have done so at Fox. He walked away.

That apology seems pretty heartfelt to me. I still like her even though I know that funny people are also often sort of unhappy and sometimes mean! But that doesn’t mean she’s not funny, or a good host.

I am all for a person improving themselves as long as they're alive, but Ellen wasn't about to change. This is all because it came a head and threatened her career. And if the change isn't sincere, it isn't going to last beyond this public apology phase.

^^ an additional point is that she's probably even more bitter these days for being forced to cry and apologize.

kalen Allen, who has a segment on her show, has a lot of new content and he said he’s going to be on television soon. I am very curious if he is still tied to the show or not. I think he is great.

No way would Leno have gone over to Fox. Too humiliating for the ego.

Her apology today (9-21) was weak. Really, really weak.

Especially when she said "I am sorry IF I hurt your feelings." IF?!

Hell no. Her whole "look, sometimes I'm sad, sometimes I'm grumpy" portion was bullshit. You know what Ellen? Sometimes I'm sad or grumpy but I don't ever allow my employees to be harassed, or tell them not to look at or talk to me, or scream at them. Because I'm a freaking professional.

Her show has lost over 1 million viewers since she was exposed as a fraud. "Steep decline."
