| When is all this going to be decided??? |
As far as I know it's not posted anywhere publicly other than deep in the comments on a AEM post. Spoiler alert - it sucks for everyone except the current Key Immersion parents. |
| See that McKrazy Mom is being nasty again on AEM... |
But calling her MCCrazy isn’t nasty? LOL. |
Yes can someone answer this? |
| As somewhat of an aside, can someone share if there is anything inherently or logistically bad about either the ATS building/ location or the McKinley building/location? For example, is traffic a nightmare or parking impossible? Is there anything uniquely inconvenient about the locations or facilities, at least for future families who have yet to decide whether to apply for the ATS or immersion programs? I understand it’s a switch up for current families and not what they signed on for and I get that .... |

Fixed that. With the exception of a very small group of people, most of McK is ashamed and embarrassed. She does not want to hear that her approach is off-putting and makes her and everyone around her look like a nut. She is behaving that way towards everyone. No matter how this whole process ends up, know that she is NOT reflective of the broader community. |
Saw at ASFS they are having music classes outside due to lack of space - something needs to be changed soon. https://twitter.com/ASFSOnline |
McK family and we've attended camp at ATS. If you are a family without car access, McKinley is not easy to get to. They cancelled the bus service through the neighborhood two years ago, so you either need to be prepared to have a long walk, or take a car. McKinley's parking lot only holds 30 cars, and there are over 100 staff so parking isn't totally easy on a normal day, and it's especially bad during all-school events when families of 800 kids all try to come at the same or similar times. With 17 busses coming in if it's ATS they will likely take away a lot of the parking along the west side of McKinley Road during morning and afternoon so that will make it even worse. ATS is a bit more central, and you have bus routes along Wilson and George Mason for families that need public transportation. The entrance is a bit awkward off of a side street, but the parking lot seemed larger than McKinley's. I don't know how they handle busses. |

McK family that is not a walker here. I don't find parking there to be a problem 99% of the time. Maybe one time a year, I have to park a bit further than I'd ideally like to but it's nothing tragic. I can always find a spot easily, it will be just a bit further away on one of the neighborhood streets.
The morning car drop-off scene can be chaotic. My kids ride the bus in the morning though, so I mostly avoid that. The road the school is on a larger road and wide, but doesn't have other competing things going on (like say the road for Reed will have in Westover village), which I think helps. When it's busy over there, it's busy because of the school and that's it. |
| Another McK non-walking family. There is sufficient parking on any given day. If you are picking up a kid for an appointment, there are usually spots within the lot b/c it gets shut off in the morning before buses arrive. So, spots open up throughout the day. The only times that are crazy are full-school events, but those are rare. Ohio/McKinley is a large road and easily accommodates busses. I don't think drop off is bad using kiss & drop. |

Can anyone from Key explain how their magical alternative proposal creates more seats in the R-B corridor than adding a whole school worth of neighborhood seats? I don’t understand where they think these seats are coming from. Are they really just pretending like pushing Long Branch kids west and filling those with kids from Courthouse is creating more seats than moving immersion and filling Long Branch AND Key with neighborhood seats?[ Can someone please share this proposal? Yes, please? |

I just finished streaming the meeting, and I'm pretty sure this is a done deal. They definitely have the votes they need to pass it.
I'm just ready for this to be settled so that we can focus on supporting communities through this change. |
