New partner track role--need to dress "rich"

Shoes and bag! Bag should be in the $2000 range. Shoes should be Jimmy Choo or Ferragamo. Your seperates can be whatever you’re comfortable in. Blouses can’t be polyester. My executive shopped at White House Black Market but when she set her purse on her desk you knew she was rolling in it.

You need to link that garment

Oh I LOVE these. I cannot get enough of capes.

Jil Sander, Reiss, and what you described all work. Tone on tone with high quality designers.

The Nordstrom personal shoppers don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground.

YES. All of Robin Wright's costumes. I've had mixed experiences with Nordstrom personal shoppers, and I *hated* my Trunk Club shopper. Gave her 4 tries and found one thing out of all my trunks.

I like the idea of the cape but I don't think I could carry it off know I would be mocked for it. Think Mary Poppins or Supergirl...

Robin Wright in House of Cards is the ultimate exemplar of this look. Unfortunately it is her body type that is so unattainable (tall, thin, proportionate, amazing facial structure, patrician bearing and haughty expression to boot) that even all the expensive clothing in the world would never make a regular woman look like that.

I love Zara! So many great looks that you can pair with expensive pieces.

I work at a Wall St bank in London, and in my experience, the well put together women are generally wearing Reiss/Hobbs/LK Bennett/Whistles. LK Bennett shoes are de rigueur, the wardrobe has a bit more flex. Unless you are really senior, like Partner level making 7 figures, nobody is wearing true designer clothing like Mouret, McQueen, or anything close to that. However the bags will likely all be proper designer, but many women might well be wearing dresses from the Gap.

Definitely no Boden. I guarantee half the women in London wouldn't even have heard of the brand. I generally associate Boden with a mumsy/frumpy look, not sleek and fashionable.

Also at the big 4 consulting level the level of polish will be significantly lower. You could easily get away with head to toe H&M.

Boden is mostly for SAHMs and teachers, IMO.

Yikes. I think this is one of those things where beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm glad it makes you feel good PP/s. I am pretty fashion forward but those are not something I would want to wear in a million years.

Capes are very restrictive Nd limit your range of motion. Target carried these a few years back, so they are not cutting edge fashion. At all.

And another lawyer larger who has a fair amount of Boden basics. But my office is mostly business casual—I agree it’s not a power suit look. I do like their ravello top under a suit though. It wrinkles a little less than some of my real silk ones.

I bet they are slim

Yes they are but they aren’t skinny, if that makes sense. Probs a size 8 or 10

These sizes are not slim. And I say that as someone who has been both of them, as well as a 4 and a 6.

Oh please, an 8 can absolutely be slim depending on height and body type. I agree that it is not always, but it can be.
