Republicans don't really care about governing, they just care about power. And once they're out of it, they don't want to participate anymore.

Yup. Meadows lost his Republican gerrymander and is facing a good challenger - a retired Air Force colonel and prosecutor at Guantanamo.

Not just declining to run for re-election but might outright retire early.

The article makes it sound like he's going to take on a bigger role in the campaign. Could Trump dump Pence and make Meadows VP to try to keep NC red?

Kevin McCarthy has a lot of Parnas money, but I think he’s too dumb to retire.

“Rep. Mark Meadows' shock retirement — revealed just 30 hours before the filing deadline in North Carolina — has roiled some Republicans in the state who suspect he timed his announcement to benefit a friend of his wife.

The four-term congressman will depart the House for an as-yet-undefined role with President Donald Trump, a decision he disclosed in an interview with POLITICO Playbook that published around 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 19, ahead of the filing deadline at noon on Dec. 20.”

Amy Kennedy, a daughter-in-law of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, entered the Democratic primary for Congressman Jeff Van Drew’s seat.

He’s the Democrat who switched parties following his vote against impeachment.

She's married to former Representative Patrick Kennedy, a former @DCCC chair who represented Rhode Island from 1995 to 2011.

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, who has been courted by state GOP officials about a run for Congress against Antonio Delgado in New York’s 19th district, says he isn't running. Delgado flipped a very Trumpy district to the Ds in 2018.
