Good for Arlington.
From several of their bios I figured them as American coaches, but if you say so. Maybe they should go replace Ellis and flip the switch for that team. |
Figured them as American? Did you really read the bios? |
Jill Ellis? Why should they? They are practically unbeatable and have only gotten better. |
| DP. There is plenty of raw talent in the area. The problem is lack of quality coaching and ability to recognize the talent. We are developing untalented as long as they are sufficiently athletic and willing to pay the steep training fees. |
| I think there’s a lot of talent in the area too. It’s just spread between multiple options, not compressed to a few. There’s plentty of quality coaching at the DA and ECNL clubs including, Arlington, which is supppsed to be the topic. |
This is very true, not only in Arlington, but at other DA options as well. Arlington needs to figure out how to offer something different than nearby clubs. |
After only a few months of operation for Arlington and a little over a year for DA clubs in general, there's no way anyone can credibly come to that conclusion. |
| As shown by PPs, lots of people have. |
Well that's just not very smart, but I doubt it's true if you base that conclusion on the postings here. They normally come from one or two rabid people trying to shift public opinion and the admin has already called out one anti-DA poster in another thread. |
| Disagree, think what you want, doesn't change that one poster thinks Arlington plays possession soccer. |
I love the people on DCUM who think they know things they don’t the most of all. You are the winner of this thread. Glad all your garbage posts were deleted by the admin. |
You are mixing posters. My children play soccer in Arlington and it has never been about possession, but I hope that changes. I have seen DA, and it is not much different. Other posters from page 1 have talked about the boys changing that though. Jury still out, but you are probably the guy that thinks some switch was flipped and naming coaches. The only posts I saw deleted were by the CLASSY GUY from Arlington who said the F-word to some poster (you?), another guy complaining about some guy (you?) who was monitoring the board against any criticism, and some other nonsense probably from you when you said you don't even have children that play there. I should report your post, but I won't. It can stand for itself. |
NP - I think the problem is that we are all talking OVER each other. No one said that a switch was flipped (except for some very SARCASTIC poster). What was said was that the DA coaches are moving toward a possession style. That is the goal. Is it happening with the girls? Somewhat, depending on the competition. (And there was a very thoughtfully written post about this). No one has said that Arlington DA has perfected the art of possession. These girls' teams have been practicing together for 2 1/2 months. They are learning but not always applying. Can we give it time and see what happens? On another note, the girls play FCV this weekend. Since they are a good team, Arlington will most likely play a sloppy game. It won't be a fun to watch. |

^^ Good post. Welcome. The one guy on here has been so extreme, that it ruins the discussion. FCV will show a lot of Arlington families that the run-n-gun days are behind, assuming the girls can follow the boys and take a touch. I agree with the poster who was intimidated off the board by younger parents that it would be good to put one of those games up on the ASA site after this weekend. The coaches are the same ones that coached last year, so hopefully they are changing their style like the boys.

| Arlington has had BDA for awhile, so my 2 cents is that the style of play should have shifted long ago and making Krieger the scapegoat is unfair. Total diversion of a conversation. There is no light switch. The club has a lot of work ahead to get better coaching and its coaches to pull off players on all teams who refuse to control soccer balls because they can't. Monday skills exists for a reason. |
