The Atlantic Division will have U13 added this coming Fall as a pilot as well so that is why the call for 06's.

I think this does make sense, but there also have been discussions and rumors of U13 in the far West as well. Have you seen any releases about this new pilot from the Atlantic clubs? I have not.

What is interesting about U13 in the Frontier, is that it includes a club (Rise SC) that does not have the full USGDA at U14 and above. Similar to the boys DA, are large clubs like Loudoun and Arlington applying for U13-only franchises for this Atlantic pilot? Would help them keep their 06s in house an extra year and not defect to ECNL, while then referring their best 06s to the Wash. Spirit the following year for U14 DA. Any info? There used to be an Alliance, but I believe it fell apart over a year ago.

No official release, only what coaches have said. The "Official" meeting has happened via webcast so clubs do in fact know by now.

But, to address some of the other issues, that would depend upon the number of applicants. So while, I seriously doubt Loudoun would apply for a sliver of DA IF USGDA wanted to add U12 in the near future they will need more clubs similar to the boys structure in order to make U12-U13 more feasible travel wise for the obviously younger players. So in this case, yeah, I could see Arlington, Bethesda, etc and other large more local clubs being offered limited DA's, like the boys side, just to keep travel down.

why not? Like the boys DA, the rising U13 girls currently on red go to girls DA, white becomes red, etc., etc. The bottom team simply becomes balck instead of silver. they wouldn't even need to squeeze in a 4th day of training in somewhere . . . the U13 test program is supposed to be less intense (3 days instead of 4, lax sub rules, etc.)

also, Loudon may want U13 girls, so it can later add U12. U14s can just switch to FCV.

having 4th grader involved doesn't seem earhtshattering, given what they do on the boys DA.

It would be fine for Loudoun to have those younger DA age groups, more local teams = less travel. My only question is how does their current merger affect that? And would they even need to if at U12 and U13 your effectively just training two teams together anyway.

DA needs to lock in their rosters ASAP, the movement decision of girls is significant in its ability to entice others who may be on the fence based on this years results for area DA. The FOMO is strong.

I only saw 2006s at Washington Spirit and FC Virginia websites. VDA does not have ID sessions for girls 2006s. From their website: "VDA’s “Invite-Only” ID training session will act as a player-identification tool for “Boys” born 2007 through 2001 and “Girls” born 2005 through 2000 for the US Development Academy League."

I noticed for the Frontier U13 Pilot at USSoccer, not all the clubs that have U14 - U19 girls full DA applied for the U13 girls DA. So, it may be the case that VDA is not planning to apply for an Atlantic U13 Pilot and some other local club will apply and get it. Will not be McLean or Braddock Road, but you could imagine some other big clubs applying to get a limited DA just for U13 girls, and maybe eventually U12 girls in a few years like the boys.

What is the time frame for USSoccer to award U13 franchises? Looks like FC Virginia and Washington Spirit are ahead of the curve. Could they be making offers at these ID sessions?

Soon the question won't be "which Clubs are getting DA?", it will be "which Club doesn't have 'DA?". These teams will essentially become just like the good old "A" teams in CCL when every Club in the area offers them.

The point of DA is to have an initially wide net cast then thin the pool progressively as kids get older. The boys side has far more U12-U14 DA's for this exact purpose.

I could imagine limited offers going out right away for kids they really want to lock up. If memory serves rosters at the DA's last year were all pretty much settled by late March. Kids who didn't make a DA still had a regular club tryout season to fall back on. Kids who made a DA at another club had an awkward spring season left with their soon to be former club.

VDA definitely talks about 2006s on their open tryout da

Virginia Development Academy (VDA) will be holding “Open Tryouts” for the 2018/2019 US Development Academy Season for Boys born 2008-2000 and Girls born 2006-2000 on Sunday, January 21th and February 11th, 2018.

If you feel you have the potential and ability to compete in the US Soccer Development Academy (USSDA), the highest level of youth soccer, register to attend our “Open Tryouts”.

You would qualify if you fit the following criteria:

Boy born in: 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001 and 2000

Thanks! You are right. Their announcement on the main page must be out of date and inaccurate.

Good thread. Doesn't US Soccer need to "advertise" this new U13 program? Why are the NoVA DAs not tweeting this out? 06s may be committing by March,?? Really?? . . . yet everyone in the dark other then the 06 families who already play travel at FCV, or one of the WS's partner clubs like Reston or Gunston.

Although PWSI (and VDA) appear to have a new PR, that homepage seems to be a year out of date.

Won't they all end up playing themselves when there are 6-8 DA clubs in the local area? You know, just like CCL?

Invite-only tryouts is not casting a wide-net. If anyone thinks the way the DA system is currently set-up is casting a wide-net, I want what their smoking.

Maybe the ladies want to stop following the fellows. They aren't a success story.

Either are the ladies when you consider the level of quality of competition and overall level of play. The uswnm gets spanked by teenage boys.
