VDA also shows 2006s. Rumors abound about GDA starting earlier. DA needs to lock in their rosters ASAP, the movement decision of girls is significant in its ability to entice others who may be on the fence based on this years results for area DA. The FOMO is strong.
I only saw 2006s at Washington Spirit and FC Virginia websites. VDA does not have ID sessions for girls 2006s. From their website: "VDA’s “Invite-Only” ID training session will act as a player-identification tool for “Boys” born 2007 through 2001 and “Girls” born 2005 through 2000 for the US Development Academy League." I noticed for the Frontier U13 Pilot at USSoccer, not all the clubs that have U14 - U19 girls full DA applied for the U13 girls DA. So, it may be the case that VDA is not planning to apply for an Atlantic U13 Pilot and some other local club will apply and get it. Will not be McLean or Braddock Road, but you could imagine some other big clubs applying to get a limited DA just for U13 girls, and maybe eventually U12 girls in a few years like the boys. What is the time frame for USSoccer to award U13 franchises? Looks like FC Virginia and Washington Spirit are ahead of the curve. Could they be making offers at these ID sessions?
Soon the question won't be "which Clubs are getting DA?", it will be "which Club doesn't have 'DA?". These teams will essentially become just like the good old "A" teams in CCL when every Club in the area offers them.
Won't they all end up playing themselves when there are 6-8 DA clubs in the local area? You know, just like CCL? Invite-only tryouts is not casting a wide-net. If anyone thinks the way the DA system is currently set-up is casting a wide-net, I want what their smoking. Maybe the ladies want to stop following the fellows. They aren't a success story.
The rest of the world is catching up.
