Liberal Arts Schools in Ohio

+ 1. I'm also a UC grad with family still in Ohio. My DD loves the friendlier atmosphere in Ohio and as a result chose to go to college there.

Great choices in Ohio. Good air service or not too far a drive. They want out-of-state students. Not expensive. Easy to feel you fit-in in the midwest. Generally not spoiled

Fantastic for STEM. Has research co-ops with Cleveland Clinic. Great engineering school.

Good merit aid too for top kids.

To give you some idea on the STEM side, TJ had 64 kids apply in 2016. Many of those are going to be to the engineering school and not the general college, so higher admission standards. 32 accepted, 3 attended. Average stats for TJ applicants: 4.2 GPA & 1520 SATs. Since they took 1/2 the kids, that should be what it takes to get in from TJ (But realize TJ GPAs tend to run lower than base school).

Interestingly, Naviance shows a lot of WL/ unknowns for TJ. Many more than for a typical college. No idea why.

What about Wittenburg?

Nothing better than a week traveling the "Herion Highways"

Oberlin, Kenyon, Miami and Denison. Wooster and Ohio Wesleyan also seem to be more popular. Are we considered "geographically diverse" for these schools?

They want the money.

Bonus: The drive to Ohio is pretty easy albeit boring. No contending with the horrors of 95!

My son loved Dension, but DH worried about name recognition back east.

Extremely valud point, as back East, the interview questions will be, Denison? So how'd you end up there?

Yes, especially in the sciences and for its world class medical school.
