I'm asking because I have a colleague that frequents DCUM and I'm curious as to whether he/she is feigning respect and amity.

Another fine example of twisting and overstating then asking a question in an attempt to legitimize the rhetoric.

Yup. I said the blacks who are rioting are complaining that police treat them like animals - and then they act like animals with these barbaric riots. When did I ever say ALL blacks are like that? When did I ever say. I despise blacks? To the contrary, I was asking for the black community to condemn the savage behavior. And yet, you're still playing the victim card and twisting it all around. You will never defeat racism with that attitude.

Thank you again for the clarification.

+1.

The AA community is not making any favors to itself mixing violence and hysterics.

Presser right now Mayor is over her head. It's appears she dragged her feet on some issues with this. Too bad she didn't drag her feet when she "spearheaded" (according to WAPO) the transgender policy which lit the fire in NC. Should have spent more time with her community issues.

Thank you for the continued clarifications as well.

What's also bothersome is that the store that was completely looted was the NBA franchise store. Opportunistic stealing. Trump will now win NC for sure. Thanks, rioters and looters.

In the Jewish community, we are ashamed when another Jew does something illegal. We are afraid that it will heighten antisemitism, and give people reason to say "see how they are?" We certainly don't defend the behavior and blame it on antisemtisim.....or the Holocaust....or whatever. We condemn it. So why are so many blacks defending this, saying how whites don't understand about systemic racism and do everything but place the blame for the riots where they belong - on the black people behaving like savages.

Thank you for saying this.

You're welcome, although I expect some antisemitic responses, or, at the very least, more excuses and blame-shifting from black people who insist on defending it.

P.S. Are you black, by the way? I am particularly interested in hearing from black people who acknowledge that these riots perpetuate racism rather than work to defeat it.

They will certainly be worth several points to Trump in North Carolina, if not elsewhere.

Apparently the Charlotte police are refusing to release the video of the shooting. What possible reason could there be for this other than it not supporting their story? If the video shows Scott getting out of the truck with a gun, why wouldn't they want to make that public as a means of calming the demonstrations? I can't help but conclude that the video doesn't show such a thing.

Have you seen this interview with a witness of the shooting? She seems pretty credible to me. Her story is completely different from that of the police. If the police have video supporting their story, they should release it. They are not releasing the video they do have. The conclusion seems obvious.

^^ because depending on the quality of the video, some may continue to say it's a book

Or the portion of the video showing the gun/book/whatever may also show him being shot, and they probably wouldn't want to show that on tv.

there's a photo circulating around the internet showing a gun on the ground next to his body. Not sure of its source.

Law enforcement officers often give a skewed or false account of what happened, suggesting that officers’ lives were in danger, only for video to show that there was in fact no danger at all.

So Jeff I just want to clarify..are you saying it's "obvious" the police are lying about there being a gun?

I think Jeff is saying what I just said...

Come on Jeff, "seems pretty credible to me?" Eyewitness account is the weakest form of proof. People can genuinely believe what they think they saw but be mistaken. The woman appears to be sincere, and the information being shared around thus far is very damning, but lets wait for the video to be released.
