Prius is definitely a Bay Area standard. Even my college student who attends a Bay Area school has one, along with at least two other friends.

It's funny. There was a study a few years ago that purported to prove that luxury car drivers really were bigger jerks. Researchers tracked whether cars snuck out of lane and whether they stopped for pedestrians at crosswalks, then scored the vehicle on luxury status. It turns out people with more expensive cars are less respectful drivers. The sole non-luxury car that scored poorly was the Prius. Prius is definitely a status car in SF (lots of Silicon Valley types drive them) and parts of LA (there was a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where all Larry's Hollywood friends drove them, making those that did not drive them feel ashamed.)

Man, I feel kind of bad for the Prius drivers when the Model 3 hits the road. Going to be the worst day for y'all since the solar installer told you it was only economically viable if you put the panels on the back side of your house where nobody could see them.

Not that PP, but I am 37 and find the mini uncomfortable. I'm taller. The leg room is nominally good but the positioning is weird because of how low it sits.

I have a Fit and it's a great city car. Plus the fold down seats really fit a ton of stuff if you need to.

A tesla isn't practical if you need to drive long distances/only car (e.g. for road trips) as it has a range of about 300 miles. This was reaffirmed by seeing one out of juice on the should of 95.

Then that's their problem: there are plenty of superchargers around for Tesla owners to get where they need to go, and more being added all the time. Running out of juice is poor planning on the part of the driver.

That's cute. All my Persian friends prefer to identify as Persian. Probably because they got chased out prior to the Revolution, so I'll keep using that word.

There are a bunch of minis available now. The newer ones have more comfortable interiors than the first series. Or have you driven them all? If so, what do you recommend that fits PP's criteria? Actually, the only two that matter are manual transmission and not a jerk's car. The second of those eliminates any sports car, and the first one eliminates everything that's not a sports car, except the mini.

While the Mini is fun to drive, I was looking for a rear wheel drive car. I was thinking something along the lines of a Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio to eventually replace my M5.

I agree. I thought about buying one several years ago and look at the maintenance and performance ratings and they were horrible. It made me wonder why people buy them other than to appear affluent. Plus, they are small on the inside. No third row seat. I do love my Escalade, worth every penny and no mechanical issues.
