Good student, great kid-- YIKES on HSPT

I can’t figure out if a HSPT for catholic school score of national 72 is good or not. Standard score was 542
I can’t seem to get a straight result on Google. She is a A student but did get the scores above. Help

For placement in honors classes you often need a 90, at least. Scholarships more like 98 or higher. But she may still get in since she has good grades.

Not great, not terrible. What schools are you applying to?

Probably (depending on which schools) won't keep you out especially if you are a Catholic ES applicant. Merit aid is not in the cards though is my guess. Not that there is much of that anyway. If she took any other tests (PSAT/SSAT etc) and did far better, you could send a note to the admissions director. Might help a borderline admit.

One standardized test doesn't define a student's ability and/or potential, right?

You'll be the same parents railing against test optional come college time.
