Nobody used that strategy. Some people suggested voting for Gray in hopes of Catania winning. That wasn't a wise strategy either.

No it was not. I drove into work without any problems. That's why windshield wipers were invented.

If only the kids had windshield wipers for their eyes. And in the snow kids are playful and not always paying attention. Visibility was very bad between 8 and 9 this morning.

I laughed at the forecast yesterday, and I am not the person that usually calls for school closures, etc. There should have been delays or closures for school this morning. I have seen MANY school buses stuck or spun out. In taking my kids to school in a 4 wheel truck, I spun out twice. Bowser and Henderson dropped the ball on this one.

I'm sure they listened to the same forecast and did not foresee a problem. The forecast for the city was 1 inch. The burbs were forecasted to receive 2-4 inches. As I drove in this morning, the forecasters admitted to getting it wrong.

Days like this I'm glad we took a chance with our IB school.

And I was plowed into by an out of control car that had just made a turn. We both had our wipers on. Your point?

Learn to read.

As I was driving away from the intersection where I was hit, the exact scenario happened with two new cars.

Oh and guess where I was on my way to when I got hit? To DC, where I work with preschoolers.

On our two block walk to school this am, two buses that couldn't make it up the hill, and a semi-totalled Audi. At my kid's DCPS school, attendance looked to be about 10-20% of normal.

I confess to having voted for Gray over Bowser in the hope that Catania could defeat a wounded Gray in the general election. However, I credit Gray with being a detail driven manager, which is why unfortunately I think he knew a lot more about the shadow campaign four years ago that he has admitted. Yet I would acknowledge that Gray was more like old fashioned big city mayors (like the elder Richard Daley in Chicago), with some ethical questions but who knew how to make things work. Granted, Gray didn't have a big personal machine, but he got stuff done and mostly delivered city services. Barry was the other extreme, rather crooked yet a terrible manager who mostly didn't deliver services or successfully attack big problems. The jury's still out on Bowser -- figuratively, although Park Southern might mean some day literally. But her poor beginning makes me wonder if she has the basic ability to manage the District and deliver the goods.

not sure about your word choice of "wise", but voting for Gray in a democratic primary to bolster an independent's or candidacy is a sound strategy which did not happen to succeed. In all honesty, I'd have been happier with Gray winning a 2nd term than Bowser, and yes, I planned to vote for Catania from day 1.

Liked DCPS not disrupting the 2nd day of the new term. For parents at neighborhood schools the scheduled delays are meaningless. And while I could see the impact on teachers and staff commutes, they usually arrive closer to 7am and would not have been impacted by the later rush hour impact (plus added snowfall). Our elementary applied common sense -- started on time but made allowances for stragglers

Well, ward 4 is Muriel's ward--at least you're seeing plow trucks, we got nothing.

I'm in Ward 4 as well, as is our charter. The drive at 8:15 was mostly unplowed, and very slippery.

The Catania voters have ZERO regrets this morning. Thinking Catania would have done a better job.

It's the rest of you who voted for Bowser that we have to thank for this mess.

New DCPS term doesn't start until January 26.
