Seriously? "New Founders" at Creative Minds?

I'm high on the WL (only a few spots away) - and I'm more annoyed by all the rumors with no facts than anything.

how would you feel if you were in right now? Not having to stress for the next few weeks (or the rest of the summer)
Maybe you would not need to put a deposit down at a private school knowing that you were in.

Why doesn't someone simply email the Principal and find out what is going on. I'm sure you can get her contact info from the website. No?

Any updates on the matter?

Just ask the school for a list of founders

Interesting how CM is laying low on this and not posting to the thread like they have on others. Just waiting for it to get bumped to another page and forgotten, I guess...

Yes, you've posted this (or others) multiple times during the 10 pages. If you care - call them and ask them. Just reposting the same thought over and over doesn't make anything new happen. I've asked the school and gotten the information I want, either do your research or stop complaining.

I've asked the school and gotten the information I want, either do your research or stop complaining.

so you take the time to complain about others asking for information, you have some, but choose not to share the information on this thread?

interesting.

I'm not the PP you're quoting, but I have been reading this thread. Not a CM parent, but very concerned/interested in honesty and transparency in the lottery and waitlist processes, so I do care about this issue.

And I did call the school. And I felt like the person I spoke to was very open, they are aware of this thread, and they also wisely are considering (after responding in another thread here) whether it's really a good idea or not for them to start responding every time someone has something bad to say about CM here. To me, that's a very wise thing for them to consider, because there are both positive and negative consequences for responding to everything on a forum like this. Look at Yu Ying, their administration would be CRAZY (and also waste a ton of time) if they responded to every rumor/allegation/accusation/falsehood that's posted here.

On this specific issue, all I'll say is, they sound totally unconcerned and sound like they know/believe they have done everything by the books and there's nothing to hide. At least, the person I spoke to sounds that way, although those are not exact words from that person.

At the end of the day, what difference would it make? The real concerns (if there are indeed any real concerns about "new founding board members" and their kids getting admission - because no one has actually posted that they reported the specific situation to PCSB. Only they link to this thread, but has anyone with supposed actual knowledge of this reported to PCSB?) If there are real concerns, they need to be taken up and processed between CM and PCSB. If no one actually has any real information on this, then there's nothing to report to PCSB and nothing for them to follow up on.

To me, the absence of a response here does not equal quilt or hiding anything. It just means maybe CM is still working out their public face, and how much they want to engage ona site like this in rumor-squashing when - if they continue to be a successful school - this kind of thread is just the beginning of the various attacks they will face!

Just to clarify, when I say "What different would it make?" I mean what difference would coming to DCUM to defend themselves make. I do NOT mean what difference would it make if a school cheated the admissions process. I think that would make a HUGE difference. But that's not what I was talking about here.

Thank you, PP, for the coherent summary. I feel like this thread has been generating a lot more heat than light, as they say, in the absence of any new facts.

Yes. I'm close to the top of the WL now so my concerns are valid - I called the school as well and felt that my questions were answered. If there was something to hide I would have a lot to lose, because I wouldn't get in.

It always amazes me that people are willing to take the word of strangers and rumors vs. calling the school and getting the answers themselves. If you have concerns, email the Charter Board or call the school.

But, if there was really something to a made up rumor by a woman who heard something from her friend, don't you think we would have heard more then 2 or 3 hysterical people keeping a thread alive on DCUM?

I agree that it is wise for the schools themselves not to respond to posts/allegations. At the end of the day, this is an anonymous site. One that I have found very useful but the anonymity allows for people to use it for their own gain. Responding to a rumor or allegation actually gives it credence, even when it might be completely falsified from the very beginning. As PPs have pointed out, one can go to the Charter Board, to the school, etc. etc. Lots of very good options.

Agreed, what if its someone who is trying to scare people away so they can get better placement on the list?
