What's terribly pathetic is trying to pretend others think she is a wild and crazy chic when in reality we all think she's pretty average. OP, no one cares if you go to a restaurant to have a drink and some food with a baby. Pretty standard behavior. Wonder why you didn't describe it that way in the first place.

I agree with the PP who said it was a lot more fun before OP resurfaced. If I had known you were simply planning on some appetizers and a beer, I wouldn't have bothered with this thread.

Yes you would have! The mere reason you are still posting on here shows you really are obsessed with this topic. Leave it alone and go find another "fun" thread to tear people apart in.

Yes, you are that fascinating. We are obsessed with your plans. Snore.

This is not OP. But why are you still posting, you keep saying how bored you are...why are you still here? You ARE obsessed...HA!

Because I should be cleaning out my refrigerator instead. Every time I open it, something falls out and it's impossible to keep track of what is in there. So this is better. HA!

Again, made my day. I couldnt wait to get on my comp this morning to see what the crazies said since I signed off last night.

And yes! To all the PPs who want to meet for a drink with our babies some afternoon in the future - I would love to.

Perhaps I should set up an email account?

TeenMom3NextGen@yahoo.com?

or

classlessmommywholikeswine@yahoo.com?

getafrickinlife@yahoo.com?

Should we take a vote?

Don't know how wedded you are to the DC scene, but hubby and I had lots of fun doing wine tastings at the excellent wineries in NoVa with our six-month old stapped on in the Baby Bjorn. Many tastings are outdoors and have nice nibbles. You could even rent a limo to take you to several tastings.

Frankly, as a mom of three, I cannot imagine anything more unpleasant than schlepping my 6 month old around to bars/restaurants/pubs/pick-your-euphemism, trying to entertain a fussy and bored baby while trying to catch up with my friend and enjoy a glass of wine or two.

I get that this is your first, and you want to show that you are a cool mom, and that your baby is adorable, but seriously. GET A SITTER! I've spent many many dinners and other outings juggling an unhappy baby outside the venue while everyone inside was enjoying themselves. Granted, my kids never like the loud noises or music, or they got bored pretty easily. Maybe your baby is super laid back. But it was a chore for me. And I only did it because I couldn't get a sitter, and I didn't want to stay home.

So enjoy your friend. Get a sitter. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the baby, and your baby will be much happier for it (as will your friend, I promise).

(FWIW I will say that we are very hands-on parents (no nannies or au pairs), and took our babies to museums, parks, and festivals where it was easy to breastfeed, or extricate ourselves if needed.)

Agreed. Or, what about just going to a park with a blanket, bottle of wine and some snacks and hanging out with baby and friends? The baby would be happier, could nap and you could still spend time with your friends. It just seems like it sounds like more fun to you than it will actually end up being for you and your friends (not to mention your baby). There is a lot you can think of to do that is in between sitting in your condo staring at each other and going on a bar/restaurant crawl that would be fun and more kid friendly. Also, if youe friend is staying with you I cannot imagine that she could not get some QT with baby before or after yo go out.

I recommend Columbia Heights, Logan Circle, Cleveland Park, even The Reef in Adams Morgan.

I used to go out for during the summer to restaurant bars ALL THE TIME when my DS was >5 months old. He would sleep anywhere in his stroller. I didn't drink because I was bfing but we would hang out until all hours (okay like 9:30pm) and everyone loved it. We passed the baby around, hung out and laughed, I mean the kid seriously slept 20/24 hours so it's not like he was bothering anyone hanging in out in the stroller and it made those first few months easier because I had a life. Now, at a year, I'm totally stuck in the house and a slave to nap time.

Enjoy it while you can OP.
