Opening a can of worms with this one, I’m sure

Sweet mother of god. Thank you ALL so so so much. I have just had the laugh of my life reading this.

(oh and for the record, my absence was due to my being busy at work - havent hit the bar yet today)

Okay, everyone....deep breaths. In, and out. In and out.

Let me clarify.

There will be 4 of us. My husband, myself, my friend and her fiance. We will have DC with us.

We thought, instead of sitting around our condo staring at each other, we could get out of the house and walk around the city a bit. Maybe pick an area like Eastern Market or Dupont and hit a couple of restaurants. Maybe have a beer and a snack. Next place a glass of wine and an app. Next place a pepsi for me. Just to change scenery and see some different venues in the city that maybe werent around when my girlfriend and I were back in College.

I suppose I misspoke. This is not a "bar crawl" in the sense that I plan on getting a wristband, downing tequila shots and banging some dude in the bathroom. Should I say a "restaurant crawl"? Does that make it more palatable to all you psychopaths?

There will be drinks, yes. There will also be food. This will also be during the day - like 2pm to 4pm. We'd clear out before any scary hooligans come to get physical or rip-roaring drunk and assult us. (Does that actually happen?)

Apparently unlike many of you, I am able to have a glass of wine or a beer and maintain my sobriety.

Seriously though, best 20 minutes of the week reading the responses.

I love how I am "ghetto" and "classless" because I want to walk around DC and stop in different restaraunts and (while in the bar area) have a beverage and a snack. Heaven forbid. OH THE INSANITY.

And for the record (as I believe it is a valid concern) we will be going during non peak hours but OF COURSE if DC starts to get fussy I will make a quick exit so as not to disturb other patrons.

You guys are a riot. Thanks for the laughs!

(also before I get ripped on again for another 9 pages - I am not running spell check bc I am wrapping up a project at work)

You can't think of something else to do which would be fun? It just seems to college/early 20's to do something like this....Even if you don't have a baby.

Seriously. That does really sound all that fun. I would be kinda of annoyed if I came from out of town and my friends idea of a good time was sitting around all day in resturants nibbling and drink an occasional glass of wine. I mean for a couple hours - sure that's nice but really the whole day? I agree with the PP who said you are trying really hard to prove you are still "cool"

OP never said it was going to be the whole day. She said 2 to 4 in the afternoon.

OP - wanna arrange a mini bar crawl play date?

I think the OP is trying to delude herself into thinking she is cool and hip.

Another cheap person here obviously.

Others out and about in bars really don't want your baby there. Really.

this thread is making me hate humanity and this forum. sometimes i wish i still lived in NY, where this topic would barely rate.

adams morgan: many options here as long as you pick around the dives. some good ones: tryst, reef, bourbon, l'enfant

u street/logan: marvin, saint ex, bar pilar, masa 14, estadio, birch and barley

columbia heights: the heights, meridian pint, red rocks, wonderland (my 5yo loves wonderland!)

mount pleasant: tonic, raven, radius

I vote OP goes away again, it was more fun without her.

Me, too! Me, too!

eastern market would be my choice. the food there is great and the bars are pretty chill, more so than dupont/admo. at 2 the brunch crowds should be dwindling. anyway, ENJOY, i think you are perfectly reasonable and enjoy a beer... remember to pump and dump.

If you are too old to stop in at a few restaurants for a drink and appetizer, you might as well start wearing the mom jeans and an embroidered christmas vest. You are done.

And if stopping at a few restaurants for a drink and appetizers is your version of a bar crawl, then maybe you should don the mom jeans and embroidered christmas vest.
