Well... YES! That would make total sense. He is going to go after kids that lack power.

And then conveniently accuse the parents of just wanting his money or to shake him down. That's harder to pull off with the child stars who don't need his money.

To be fair, the one family was shaking him down and that's probably how he got off. Because they had shaken down other celebrities and it became clear that was a pattern.

But still, he was hanging out having sleepovers with young children. Which is exactly how a pedo would act.

There is nothing good about it (or about any sexual abuse, obviously), but of course he was guilty. And Bill Cosby is also guilty. It is just wishful thinking to say otherwise. It is *possible* there are 1-2 gold diggers who are exaggerating but the idea that all the kid obsession was just a big misundersatanding is well...covid will just all go away on its own right in 2020? No.

I think a lot of people are more comfortable choosing to believe he was innocent because it makes them feel better about enjoying his music, going to see the movie, etc. It would feel too uncomfortable otherwise. Look, there is no denying that he was an incredible artist and entertainer. His music holds up and is as infectious as ever. That being said, I can’t enjoy it anymore because of his effect on those children. Some people can separate an artist from their worst deeds and others can’t. If you can, just go ahead but don’t pretend they were innocent of those deeds.

Also multiple things can be simultaneously true. He may not have been inappropriate with Macaulay. He may have been victim of a shakedown by one family. He may still also be guilty of having abused other children (aruguably being guilty exposes one to aforesaid shakedown, but not my main point). None of these things are mutually exclusive.

I fully believe if you look at the totality of evidence there is no way a reasonable person can honestly continue to assert innocence here. I say this as someone who grew up to his music and enjoyed it at the time.
