Pp points out jokes aren’t the problem. The prison industrial complex, over policing, wealth disparity, education disparities, the generational damages done by slavery and Jim Crow- that’s the problem.

If you are ok with the damage racism has done to society and draw your line at a video, that’s not great. The fact that 30% of people voted for this guy is a continuing disaster. Quite frankly I don’t care if they see the light, they’ve already done tremendous damage and will continue to do so by virtue of being too stupid to live in an advanced country and dragging us down.

I see the video posts as text balloons to determine if he’ll get away with more. If he hears silence from the masses and media helps to protect him by downplaying coverage, and of course Congress does the ostrich, it will get worse. He laughs, says the plebes don’t care, and will push the envelope further.

He’ll be doing that anyway. He and his father built their family fortune — with the help of taxpayer supported federal programs — by openly refusing to rent properties to Black Americans. This was true at least through the ‘80s. Trump poisoned public opinion against 5 Black and Brown teens by getting full page ads in NYC papers calling for their execution. While the teens were eventually exonerated, their lives will be forever scarred by their experiences in prison — and with American “justice”. Trump and Miller are openly racist and have openly racist goals. A good chunk of the Republicans in Congress AND their constituents are just fine with this.

That said, what would you like the masses to do that is likely to have an impact?
I’d love it if those who he views as his peeps would rise up and push for values that include overcoming racism. If you have some realistic suggestions for achieving that, I’m all in.

No I dont think this has anything to do with legitimizing racism. This is merely exposing it. And it frustrates me that this is the only kind of racism that white people get up in arms about, but you all quietly take issue with DEI programs and say crap like reverse racism. Monkey jokes harm my family a lot less than bias in hiring and employment, or the assumption of guilt when encountering law enforcement, but I get a lot less support when I point out the latter issues. I've heard monkey jokes my entire life, and I just find it lame.

I'm pretty sure that the same white people who take issue with DEI and say crap like reverse racism are ones who are laughing at the video, but don't let that stop you from blurring the lines, Anonymous Poster.

I'm White, I think the video, and any of the dehumanizing racist imagery, is horrifying. I also think that DEI as a policy is not effective because it doesn't fix the issue it purports to address. And I also believe that racism can be directed toward Whites. It's the actions that are racist. It doesn't matter the group.

How is DEI ineffective?

He didn't actually make that video though. Someone followed direction to insert that image at the end, and someone came up with the idea that inserting the image would be brilliant as it would actually make the left and the news dhare the video they actually want people to watch, which is spinning conspiracies about voter fraud before the midterms. It is not his dementia. It is actually about the evil people behind the scenes who deliberately did this as part of their strategy to control the midterms.

DP, I am not white and I find Trump's behavior abhorrent. I take this kind joke as racist.

I also would do anything to dismantle systemic racism, like income/education/opportunity disparity. I am up in arms about black and Hispanic American residents being profiled by law enforcement and these racist jokes. Not everyone who is upset about Trump's behavior is a White person.
