You meet a Big 3 student - you think to yourself . . .

my kids are a bit older but i think it's kind of weird that people are thinking about who earned and who didn't earn their spot. At some point, they are just kids at a school.

Nothing. Not from here so I don't know what the "Big Three" are. If I hear they are from Sidwell, which I have heard of, I think they are from DC.

I think that it's more likely that the kid contributes to my impression of the school than that the school contributes to my impression of the kid. And "Big 3" isn't a relevant category in that regard. I don't expect Sidwell, NCS/StA, GDS kids to be similar in ways that would differentiate them from kids who go to WIS, Deal, Latin, Burke, WES, etc.

My personal observation is that, for whatever reason, the kids from the schools perceived to be more "conservative" - NCS/STA/St. Patricks/NPS - tend to be more polite, polished, and better groomed, although a bit cookie-cutter.

We have visited 2 of these schools. Observation seems spot-on.

Oh, please. Polite, polished, and well-groomed? All superficial, first-impressions, but ones that speak well of the school. Anybody on the inside of these schools knows the students are far from "cookie cutter." Sour grapes?

I think to myself, "why did 18:31 resurrect this idiotic thread?"

I think this should be DCUM-illegal. DCUM really needs a thread lock to avoid this idiocy.
