Same at northwestern except add in a large foreign born (wealthy) contingent that keeps to themselves. So three segregated groups. |
Same story here on the west coast, but how does Duke know that info? From the parents' titles? We know a kid from a dad who is very high up at a household name company) and mom is a found of a local nonprofit who is going to Duke with good grades/scores, but very generic (we're talking JV sports, not even varsity) ECs. Aren't there a bunch of Senior VP's/CFOs/COO's from FAANG companies and wouldn't it be hard for them to give all of those kids that advantage? |
| Probably not that way at Vandy and Notre Dame. |
|
Lack of unhooked middle class kids from public schools is a tragedy.
|
If they’re donors they are in the D list |
| At Duke probably minimum of 7 figure donations. |
| Duke is a one of a kind school with no peer. Ivies don’t have the location, weather, beautiful campus, and certainly not athletics. Duke has had a remarkable trajectory upward in last 50 years. |
I like Duke, but that’s subjective on location, weather and campus beauty. |
| Campus is split 3 ways, pretty weird IMO. Chapel is worth a visit. Let's not kid ourselves, Duke is rabid with great Alumin network but most people hate Dukies and for good reason! Seeing Coach K's expression on losing his final home game and bouncing outta the tournament to UNC in final 4 was very satisfying! |
These are not the same. |

7% decrease in ED applications (I’m surprised) and the admin wouldn’t release any info on acceptance demographics to the student newspaper. |
Are other T20 schools seeing a similar decrease in ED apps? Maybe it's fewer international applicants due to Trump's visa policies and the other chaos he's unleashed? |
| I grew up in the midwest, and Duke was gaining a lot of popularity in my area at the time, but here on the West Coast, it's not very popular. Any reason why? For example, our high performing public school will have 20 applicants to each of the Ivies, but some years none to Duke. I also don't see a lot of Duke matriculants from the private schools in our area. |
What happened to being the hottest T10 that everyone is dying to attend |
