Yes, these guys are crazy rich.

this is from their brand new facebook page :
A new chapter begins.

Riverbend Fútbol Club is officially stepping into the community.

This is more than a new youth soccer club.
It’s a commitment to leadership, development, and values that last beyond the game.

As we prepare for our inaugural season, we’re inviting a small group of families and players to be part of the beginning.
The first to wear the crest.
The first to set the standard.
The first to help shape the culture.

If you believe in growth, resilience, and belonging — this is your moment.

Spring 2026
The first whistle only blows once.

Follow along.
More coming soon.

Yes, they are crazy rich and affiliated with a bunch of guys who sued GFR and probably got settlements that they are using to fund this club. Classy!

Wow they are starting this coming spring? How on earth will they have teams tryouts, organized and staffed with coaches and registered for league play by March?

Go to the meeting tonight and find out

I don't get it. Why would these folks want to start their own club that geographically is right between 2 long time, well established soccer clubs (GFR and McLean). How does it make any sense? Is this all because of the old ED that everyone wanted to leave?

I think the spring 26 refers to tryouts for the fall.

I can't! I don't blend in at the country club! LOL. Someone white and middle aged needs to go and report back.

RBFC may be perfectly content chipping away a few players here and there from the closest clubs.

That approach creates a decision space for families that could result in preventing entire age groups from being able to build competitive teams (because everything is even more diluted with multiple clubs in the same small space).

GFR hasn't ever even been able to get a national pathway directly and they have some really good teams. But you're right, it gets too diluted which is why it seems crazy to have a new club in GF when they couldn't even standalone 8+ years ago when the landscape was a lot different than it is now!

Can someone please live blog this meeting or can we get a summary after at least?

I would honestly be surprised if whole teams end up leaving at the end of the day. There is a LONG time between now and the start of spring season for NCSL teams. There is nothing RBFC can offer that GFR cannot, unless ML is offering to cover everyone's fees and salaries haha. I would also think that PA will be upping the ante soon.

Agree but our coach already resigned and is one of the founders of this new club
