At what age and what Group were they in? GA showcases are not random, they rank/seed them ... the higher group in the showcase the better the teams ... Some of those teams are still eligible to get the final 4 spots in Champions Cup as a wildcard.

It's a joke. SYC was at NCFC

They won the second group of the top bracket and posted they won the top flight. Lost 0-4 tons winless NC Fusion.

NC Courage 2011 actually won the 2010 top group.

2011 came in 4th

There are fantastic players in both GA and ECNL. There are just more P4 players in ECNL currently. That could change in a couple years.

What's a joke is that VRSC has only won 1 game out in CA so far
and that win was against a terrible team that had already lost 9-0.

Didn’t Fusion tie FVU? It could have been the 09s

What does it mean to come in 4th with a 15 point deficit? Is ED stiiill coaching this team or is it MJ or someone else?

Final tally VRSC was 1-15-2 in Champions Cup over all age groups. Not a great showing for the area’s so called premier club.

While ECNL rules for the majority of P4 commits, their are still hundreds recruited from GA. You are actually the one with no clue. There are over 1,000 commitments each year to D1 alone and around a 70/30 split between ECNL/GA. You can't right off 300 players just because you have a clueless opinion. Their are quite a few players on the same level as the top ECNL players as well. I just watched those players for Tophat, SDA, among others.

Not sure if you are a VDA parent, but having someone like BP on your side is a difference maker. For better or for worse. Remember, just because your DD might go P4, it doesn't necessarily mean they belong. Just look at VT and JMU transfer portal alone. If your child goes P4, gets little to no minutes, is unhappy, transfers, she is either going to Mid-major, bottom D1, or quitting all together. With an attitude like some of you have, don't be surprised when you end up in this boat.

Our DD has had offers from P4, D1, D2, and DIII. DD is actually leaning DIII currently and the recruiting process is still heavily busy among mid-majors. P4s are pretty much wrapped up with a few spots still available. DD does not want to play P4 for multiple reasons. Personally I wanted her to take on the challenge but also understand the risks...We have received two emails just yesterday from more mid major D1 schools requesting a call. Both specifically mentioned watching her at Champions Cup. Both are also quality schools.

The only place where I would bash GA is the bottom table teams. Bottom table ECNL teams would likely beat bottom table GA teams by double digits. IMO, the majority of players on these GA teams will struggle to even play DIII while the ECNL counterpart should be able to play DIII easily.

This is from someone with an actual clue!

Let’s face if your daughter had these so called offers from P4 and D1 she wouldn’t be leaning DIII.

Wow, just tells you how bad all of the GA Clubs in our area are. Charlotte Independence is the best Club currently in MA South. SYC, McLean, NVA And VRSC are all close to 2nd or tied for 2nd for next years bid.

VRSC 09s are in 1st place overall and lost all 3 games. So we know where the rest would finish. Most of the other age groups are 7th place or higher in the table. Other than SYC, the existing GA Clubs probably would have had an even uglier showing. SYC probably similar or a little better.

Just a hunch but I don’t think anyone from Mid Atlantic South will do much better next year. This isn’t just VRSC but more the Division.

Remember, VRSC got Champions Cup by having better overall records than SYC, Skyline, Triangle, Wake, CDA and StJ last season. VRSC or any of these other clubs would not turn down the opportunity to play in Champions Cup if offered. Not their fault.

I’m guessing posters either lack perspective, lack common sense, or have unfaithful wives. Maybe all three.

I'm not jumping to conclusions due to a lot of factors not included. Daughter's passion to play in college as well as possibly beyond and the money factor. Is she getting offers from P4 and D1 but have to foot the full bill? And combing the passion with the financial offers does D3 make more financial sense if they have to pay as well as what she wants to major in academically because maybe she doesn't want to go pro. What if the P4 or D1 schools offered have nothing to do with what she wants to major in?

I think you gave them too much credit, I think they only had 1 tie, not 2

Too bad VRSC couldn't take advantage of getting Champions Cup by default and win any games. Who knows when they'll ever make it back, now that they have to earn it going forward.

Comment was referring to SYC 2011 in Raleigh.

Play soccer (and likely start) AND get an amazing education at WashU, MIT, among many other quality DIIIs or warm bench at bad UMD team or maybe get minutes at Florida Gulf Coast. Which are you hoping for?

Anyone diminishing a kid playing D3 as some sort of failure is an idiot or a troll. D3 is still a major accomplishment, especially so considering many of the top academic schools are D3. This person either doesn’t understand how hard it is to play in college or doesn’t understand college academics. There should be an immediate blocking from this site for anyone that doesn’t understand this.
