is RKFJr's "Tylenol(TM) causes autism" just a shakedown for extortion money from the company?

Disabled with autism, or experience life differently than others in part because of autism?

So then people who are diagnosed under new guidelines who would not have been diagnosed as autistic 40 years ago. "On the spectrum" was not common terminology years ago as the definition was more rigid.

40 years ago people like Bill Gates, with Aspergers, would not have been diagnosed.

Do they need to be? I truly don’t get why it’s even a diagnosis. Not autism, but the newer broad definition of “the spectrum”

Tylenol wasn’t widely used until the 1950s.

Anyone trying to tell you that Tylenol causes Autism isn’t someone that should be taken seriously.

Wrong it was a prescription drug until 1959 and exploded in popularity in the 1980s with new marketing.

Interestingly coinciding with an explosion in the rates of autism related disorders.

I’m at least open to hearing more.

This is totally wrong. Tylenol had a huge PR nightmare in the 1980s with the cyanide poisonings, plus ibuprofen started replacing acetaminophen starting with the introduction of Advil in 1984. Where do you get this stuff?

We weren't testing children for autism in the 80s. Just because two things happened at the same time doesn't mean one caused the other.

Depends on whether you want to make a point or spare at least a few of her feelings.

Well she has a very superior attitude about everything. I’d like to know her thoughts on this and whether she is happy she and her son are surely in some autism tracking database. God only knows what else they will use that database for.

Wow, sounds like you have a lot of empathy for your SIL and nephew and you are planning to ask her thoughts so you can show how much you support them

It doesn't sound like support, much less empathy, is in the SIL's lexicon.

Well she is as MAGA as you can get and elected these fools so I’m curious if she thinks they’re right on this.

Seems you are very unaware of the change and expansion of diagnostic criteria for autism to include a much broader net? Maybe start there.

You should hear more about this decades-long study of 2.5 million kids which showed definitively that acetaminophen is not associated with autism or any intellectual disability.

Acetaminophen Use During Pregnancy and Children’s Risk of Autism, ADHD, and Intellectual Disability (spoiler: there wasn't any found)

Did you know that the rate of ice cream sales and shark bites are VERY tightly correlated? When ice cream sales go up, so do incidents of shark bites. By your logic, ice cream sales cause shark bites!

Wasn’t Tylenol a prescription drug until the 70s?

Exactly not. It was introduced by McNeil Laboratories as a prescription product in 1955, and then McNeil was bought by Johnson & Johnson in 1959. It went over the counter in the US in 1960.

But it didn't "explode in popularity" in the 1980s. You're either posting in bad faith, or your brain is so open that things are falling out.

Can a company sue for libel?

Brought this question here from the other thread and the answer is yes, absolutely companies can and do sue individuals and organizations for libel and slander and sometimes they win those suits, too - just ask Dominion Voting Systems.

Also interestingly concerning ending with the rise of mass gun shootings
Also interestingly coinciding with the rise of cell phones.

Obviously, Tylenol started manufacturing cell phones. Duh.
