Kennedy Hearing

In a functioning government, yes, they would be, but our government is not a properly functioning government.

I don't think that's true. Our government has never functioned that way. We are learning a very painful lesson about how weak our form of government actually is. We are really pretty lucky that it took so long to get a dictator type.

Bobby Kennedy is rolling in his grave.

How far the mighty have fallen.

+1 a two party political system can be effective when at least one of the two parties is functioning properly at all times. As it is, the entities in control of our two major parties are failed entities and quite possibly, failed beyond repair.

Eh, he probably realized his kid was a complete loser before he died.

That is exactly who public health is supposed to serve.

Related PSA: I was just talking to my pharmacist and asked if she had any advice for me as someone with chronic lung disease who would like the next Covid booster once it’s available. She said it’s all still up in the air, but that the best way be prepared is to get some kind of order/note/prescription/other proof from a doctor to have in hand when the time comes. I happen to have an appointment in a few weeks so will plan ahead for that. Thought I’d mention it here in case others need to do the same thing at upcoming appointments.

It really depends on your state. For some, that’s not enough. For others, it may be. PA just changed state laws overnight to snub RFK jr and can now give vaccine in pharmacy without Rx.

Yes Pennsylvania!!!! are the insurance companies going to cover that?

Yes. Also good news, 8 New England & Mid-Atlantic states have formed their own coalition to address CDC shortfalls led by RFK Jr misinformation & lies: Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey & Pennsylvania.

That’s actually not how vaccines work. You don’t live longer because of them.

Uh, yes, taking vaccines make it so you don't die or get sick from things that might kill or harm you at a younger age. That is why life expectancy has been extended over the course of the last 70 years. People live longer because of advancements in medical technology - including vaccines.

Do you seriously not understand this?

I think people will need to go through their entire life with disfigurements from polio before we get mandatory vaccination again. Lots of kids going to end up blind with their MAGA parents saying "well, it's better than getting the shot!"

This, like so many other things, is going to become a red state/blue state issue. We're about to understand federalism on a whole other level.

Please yes!! Finally congress sees sense!

Fire RFKjr

Resign? We should all know that MAGA is immune to shame and accountability. They should move to impeach and remove him. He can resign anytime before or during the proceedings.

RFK: I’m not taking it away. Most Americans will be able to get it for free. I’m not going to recommend drugs for which there is not clinical data.

THERE IS TONS OF CLINICAL DATA.

This right here!!! I wish someone has called this out! My own child participated in vaccine and booster trials with very rigorous protocols!

Yes, and didn’t some of these trials and research say that the Covid vaccine was not recommended for healthy teenage boys because it could harm their hearts?

Actually getting infected with Covid brings a much higher likelihood of myocarditis than the vaccine. But for those worried, there are other Covid vax choices

But the vaccine doesn’t prevent Covid. It just helps with the symptoms. And that could help with mycorditis. Could also be a double whammy of risk of the vaccine and the infection even if mild. I don’t think we really know in this specific case.

can lessen the lethal effects of the symptoms - i'm willing to risk it.

Yep and it seems reasonable for some parents to choose not to risk it for their healthy kids.

No one has been forcing kids to get covid vaccines. There were some local requirements at the heights of the pandemic, but it's literally been years since there's been any requirements
And since I am immune suppressed, I would like to retain the choice to have my family vaccinated if we decide that is what is best....but that choice has been taken away
I now have a prescription from my doctor (an extra step, an extra co-pay) which will hopefully help me get this years covid vaccine for myself, but the people I live with can't help protect me

So F you and your choices

I’m sorry you feel that way. I support the right for anyone/family to elect to get the Covid vaccine much like a flu shot.

DP...it is really condescending to say "I'm sorry you feel that way" - we live in a society, a community - with other people. We are supposed to be in it for each other, and particularly where communicable diseases are concerned. Your condescending response to someone else's serious health concerns is simply selfish and myopic. I really hope you never have family members in the same boat at the PP. I do and it is horrific to see how absolutely terrifying it is to know 40% of the population could not give a crap if they kill my family member with their selfishness.

I’m sorry you feel this way as well. Be well.

Be well. Hahahahaha nah you want everyone sick so you want to take away the ability to be well.

Can Maryland join in?

Kennedy said he does not know how many people died because of Covid but he says the Covid vaccine killed more people vs Covid. Makes sense! At least we have the best and brightest in this government.

All vaccines are going to be outlawed. Bet antibiotics are next. The medical industry and infrastructure will move oversea. Good lucky everybody!

So does DC get to join in l? Probably not.

Jr was only 14 when his dad was killed, so he may not have known. Possibly RFK JR was warped by the Kennedy tragedies and name.

His testimony was nothing short of embarrassing. Sadly, few Republican senators speak out against him though Senator Kennedy did yesterday. They like just about all republicans tremble around Trump. No guts, no courage. It's tragic.
