WH announces construction of 90,000 sq foot ballroom to WH

Sigh. This is inane.

The conservative party has lost all semblance of conservatism. All that's left is ego and hate.

One person who is would have danced at any ballroom she chose had no problem dancing at the White House for a quarter of an hour with John Travolta!

Also, if you cannot tell the difference between a first lady beautification initiative and Trump's ego, I don't know what to tell you.

Ah, so you're incensed because you think this kind of thing is... a woman's job? Specifically, the First Lady? Get over yourself. This is being paid for entirely with private funds and will benefit all future administrations.

As a taxpayer, I’m not getting the “benefit” here.

As a taxpayer, you're not paying a dime for this, so don't you fret. The benefit is for future presidents and their administrations.

To throw ballroom blitzes for the wealthy… mmmkay….

You mean state dinners for other heads of state? mmmkay...

How did we handle such events before? Why the need for this all of a sudden? Have other heads of state been complaining about our worn out facilities?

State Dinners since Obama have been almost all held in a giant tent on the south lawn. It's a total pain for the staff. Not that I'm sold on a ball room addition (where they would have dinner, not dancing!). The East Wing is currently the first lady's offices for her and her staff. There is also the family theater right there. Not sure exactly which spaces the are considering.

"Leavitt characterized the new construction — which she said will be funded by Trump and other private donors"

LOL. Funded with their tax breaks. So, essentially tax payer $$$$.

The irony also in bulldozing the East Wing, which is the First Lady’s offices. Women should stay home in the residence. 🤔

The First Lady probably hasn’t darkened the door of the East Wing all year, so no big loss.
