Do you think a rapist is going to break into your room?

Are you on a lot of meds?

NP. You do know this actually happens sometimes don’t you? Do you live in a bubble?

It almost never happens.

And it happens far less than guns are stolen from the homes of people who don't store them properly.

1.65 million break ins per year. 7% of break ins are violent. That’s not never.

definitely not as smart as I think I am. And you're not as good of a shot as you think you are. And you're not nearly at risk for an in-bedroom assault as you fantasize about.

I asked where you got it from, because when I searched for the stats myself I just go a bunch of AI slop.

Wait - so if the OP’s theory is correct, then

- Kamala and Tim Walz are more likely to accidentally murder their family members, and that Kamala & Tim must be just total morons to own guns?

Somehow, I agree more with Kamala & Tim than the crzy guncontrol lady of DCUMAD.

I grew up without a home alarm system and we had a lot of violent crime - shootings, fights where people we’re slashed, stabbed, and would run bleeding on our doorstep, etc. men would leave teenage me weird presents on the porch (I lived next to the neighborhood soup kitchen). I slept with the bat.

If that helps you sleep, sure go for it. It's worthless though for self defense. Easy to disarm someone with a bat.

I see that it worked on you. She played you well.

Do you think that educated people base their entire opinion on what a politician said?

I provided an NIH and a Stanford study. What do you have other than cheap shots?

DP rapes like that are extremely rare. It has nothing to do with other ways women get rosed. It’s usually men they know btw.

Yup. Same for most break-ins, it's usually someone that knows the victim or has recently been in their house or scoping them out.

Who do you imagine you’ll be shooting? Other than the people that whoever steals the gun from you shoots?

Whoever who is stupid enough to come inside uninvited at night.

They'd likely shoot you with your own gun faster than you could shoot them.

People make this argument all the time with absolutely no evidence of it. Those of us who keep firearms by our beds (I'm a 50s something woman who does) have been trained and know when and how to use them. Please, show me a time when someone has had their own gun turned on them in their home. I have never seen one.

Yes, wonderful examples that conflate the issue and leverage data to support an agenda.

In these studies a gun was used to commit an act of domestic violence against oneself or others. Sure half of annual gun deaths are suicides and the odds of a domestic violence death by gun increase if there is a gun in the home.

How about studies where knives or other instruments are used to carry out domestic violence murders or pills are used for suicide. So yes the gun is a method of conscience and not being used to defend one’s self in a home invasion, nothing more, nothing less.
