Teen son ate an entire large container of Whole Foods smoked mozzarella pasta salad

Ok what is in this magic pasta salad? I don’t usually even like pasta salad but this seems like something I could easily make for my teen boys, who both love cheese and pasta (like every other teen boy I think).

Oh and have mercy on me for asking, we don’t have a Whole Foods and J couldn’t afford to shop there if we did!

Teens do eat a lot, but:

About a third of US kids are overweight or obese. Less than 5% are underweight.

The average 13 year old boy needs 1600-3200 calories per day depending on his size and activity level.

That type of pasta salad has a 4 oz serving size. A pound of it is over 1500 calories.

Only OP knows for sure what her kid needs, but my guess would be that her instincts are right and he ate too much. Like we all do from time to time.

Nobody is saying that he should do this every night. Most posters are saying that it's totally normal for a teen boy to be hungry and to do this, and it's not some big warning that he's an uncontrolled glutton, which is what OP seems to want to hear.

If her kid were overweight or obese, I'm fairly certain she would have put that in the OP.

I was at the pool Saturday for my kid’s swim lesson and one of the HS guards was talking to one of the instructors about what they spend their paychecks on.

HS guard boy said he spends it mostly on eggs, chicken and ground beef because his parents think he eats too much but he’s so hungry from sports. I was ready to drive him to my house and load him up with groceries and a second/third/fourth lunch.

Feed these boys! If they’re home eating at least they’re not off making trouble.

It's not what's in the salad, rather, teens get the munchies after hitting the THC vape. Salad was readily available.

Per my Amazon app:

Smoked Mozzarella Pasta Salad (cooked penne rigate pasta [water, enriched penne rigate pasta (durum wheat semolina, niacin, ferrous sulfate [iron], thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), canola oil and extra virgin olive oil], smoked mozzarella pasta dressing [canola oil, water, garlic (garlic, water), champagne wine vinegar, parmesan cheese (pasteurized milk, cheese culture, salt, enzymes), sea salt, vinegar, dried egg yolk, sugar, spices, corn starch, xanthan gum, lemon juice concentrate], smoked low-moisture mozzarella cheese [pasteurized milk, vinegar, salt, cheese cultures, enzymes, natural hickory smoked], fire roasted red pepper strips [red bell peppers, water, salt, citric acid and calcium chloride], spinach, parmesan cheese [pasteurized milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes]).

I gotta try this.

It's my least favorite pasta salad at WF. The smokey flavor is too overpowering to me. But I looooove their greek orzo pasta salad and could totally eat a whole container of that in one sitting, ha!!

I wouldn’t say it’s magic but it’s pretty good. Satisfying without being too heavy. I bet Whole Foods has been selling it for decades.

A pound of food really isn’t that much.

This thread starting with this dumb ass question is so unnecessary. We are failing our kids in every sense of the way

Teens eat. The end

Dont worry about it hes growing and hes going to eat a lot. As long as his weight is ok leave it alone. Id start making your own pasta salad for him though. I do think he needs more healthy fats and proteins at dinner. What was dinner last night?
