Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
Yeah, well see that means there's still no consequence to the SB. Because they know the bar is set too high for anyone to do anything. The other option I guess is to make them pariahs in FCDC, but how are you accomplishing that when Frisch has the big purse? You have to give them consequences or they won't do anything. Bad press usually works for Gatehouse, but I don't know if that's enough for the SB. |
Well, they should remove him as Chair of Budget. Even the appearance of evil is troubling. |
Party loyalty overrides decency and common sense in both parties. We saw it with most of the board members going along with Karl Frisch’s massive waste of over $85 million of taxpayer money on Dunn Loring ES, and we see it again with the milquetoast response to the McDaniel embezzlement allegations. Of course, on the national stage, the cowardly Republicans who constantly suck up to wanna-be dictator Trump are demonstrating similar cowardice, with far more significant consequences. |
Can you share the School Board statement? I only saw mcdaniel’s and fcps’s. |
The Fairfax County School Board (FCSB) is not independent from FCPS. Instead, the FCSB is responsible for setting general school policy and ensuring the proper administration and operation of FCPS, a branch of the Fairfax County government. The FCPS Superintendent leads the school district, providing overall leadership and strategic direction in conjunction with the School Board, ensuring efficient and effective operation of education and administrative functions. I hope this helps. |
DP. Or, stated differently, the “FCPS” statement wouldn’t have gone out without Frisch’s input. That wouldn’t prevent other SB members issuing separate statements, which they’ve done from time to time (for example, R. Anderson, Dunne, and McElveen put out a separate statement about Reid’s handling of the Hayfield situation), but I think this is a situation where they’d be more likely to speak to McDaniel individually behind the scenes than put out a public statement. They can’t all counsel him privately at the same time given the open meeting laws. Be that as it may, he’s damaged goods and he taints the entire SB unless he comes up with something convincing soon that establishes it’s his business partner who is in the wrong, not him. |
| For all those wondering why he doesn't resign - why should he? Thanks to people like Trump and Santos, its been proven that any elected official just needs to deny deny deny and refuse to leave. Refuse to be shamed or bow to the people saying you should have the morals or ethical wherewithall to "do what's right." Just stay in your position until someone finds a way to force you out. That seems to be the new way. |
He’s facing a lawsuit seeking over $500,000 in damages. Given that he’s clearly no Trump, he might want to focus his attention on resolving that lawsuit, not mundane school board matters. No wonder he didn’t really pay any attention to the last CIP. He had a big personal debt to repay or get sued. Seriously, the “what-aboutism” is predictable, but it doesn’t mean he should stay in office. But maybe those who see him as an “ally” will keep offering up the excuses. |

Another local publication picking up on the embezzlement allegations against Kyle McDaniel

Maybe that's why the Great Falls Citizens Association got so upset they kicked out the president and secretary over a $5k donation to FairFACTS Matters. That money might better be spent buying favor from a desperate McDaniel. |
I find myself wondering where are all the, "There are never just a few bad apples", crowd from just a few years ago. The whole board needs to answer for this if they just let it slide. |
They already did. They support McDaniel. |
His first term (2 school boards ago) McElveen was actually the most liberal school board member. Now, he is the most moderate, even though he hasn't changed politically and has likely moved slightly to the left. How far radical our school board has become. |
No, not really. FCPS put out a statement through its communications team. The School Board has put out statements specifically from them in the past. I guess they didn’t this time. That doesn’t mean they aren’t okay with the FCPS statement. It just means they didn’t feel a need to put out their own statement. And Frisch is chair but he’s not in charge of the school board. It’s not like the board of supervisors. The chair of the school board doesn’t have any greater authority than the other members. Just more responsibility for scheduling. |
| Did they cancel SB meeting tomorrow night? It's not in the normal place on the website. It was there this morning. |
