To bad he lacks just about every character that marks a great leader. |
So if it falls apart (like it seems to be doing) everyone praising Biden will accept it’s a Biden failure right? |
Nope, it’s Netanyahu’s fault. |
Will everyone praising Trump accept that its Trump's fault? |
Israeli war cabinet may reject ceasefire agreement. Disputes hold up Israeli cabinet vote.
Wow and my hopes were up for just a second only for them to come crashing down. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israel-hamas-ceasefire-accord-followed-by-airstrikes-gaza-residents-say-2025-01-16/ Wow, and my hopes were up. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israel-hamas-ceasefire-accord-followed-by-airstrikes-gaza-residents-say-2025-01-16/ |
No. It's the right wingers in the Netanyahu government. It's such a narrow coalition in this government that if the right wingers in the cabinet don't go along with the details of the ceasefire, the government collapses. This is the downside of parliamentary governments. Small extremist parties can exercise disproportionate power. |
Big test of Trump’s seriousness is whether he can show more backbone than Biden. The U.S. should act like Israel needs our support, but it has for decades acted like we need to support Israel. Sad! |
No the whole country is much more right wing vs Netanyahu. I am surprised Trump was able to force the Israeli government in to a deal to release some of the hostages. It goes against Israel’s interests. |
No we should only praise Trump and Biden for their heroism in almost negotiating a cease fire after only two years of ugly warfare and 50k, mostly innocent civilians, killed. |
Trump doesn't even understand the dynamics here. He's been threatening Hamas, but they are not the sticking point. They've been willing to do this deal for a long time. Netanyahu and his cabinet are the problem. |
Ben Gvir blocks thursdays ceasefire vote by war cabinet
Tragic. We thought this time the news might be true. https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/16/world/video/gaza-israel-strike-ceasefire-deal-ldn-digvid |
Does Biden or any other president understand the dynamics? The harsh reality is that the American ruling class has been fooling themselves about the dynamics for decades. The bar for Trump to outperform is painfully low. |
I predict Netanyahu will fall before Hamas for this very reason. Not that I feel sorry for him. What he did to Rabin by inciting right wing extremist Jews is coming back to him now. |
It’s tragic that we sat idly by while the actual terrorists who bypassed the U.N. partition plan (which was, incidentally outrageously brought about and favored the Zionist movement over the far more numerous indigenous population) and established the State of Israel were enabled to construct a propaganda campaign to further fleece us - eight decades now into this failure of an experiment. |
Good. It was a surrender by Israel. Time for Israel to deal with Iran and invade Turkey then apply for EU membership. |
